I read in another thread that there are trigger foods for this virus? I had not heard that. What are they? I've been feeling off today for the first time in a long time, and wondering if it's something i ate.
yes if you eat more arginine thatn lysin then it can fight against the AV and get the virus out of its latent state. Lysine suppressed HSV arginine promotes it. Off the top of my head, nuts and dried fruits have a lot more arginine than lysine. So if your daily intake is more arginine than lysine it can cause symptoms even on an AV.
My only triggers are sodium and not sticking to a low sodium diet ( 1200-1400 mg a day). I have no issues eating nuts and always buy the unsalted ones and will have a handful or two a day as a snack..... I don't drink alcohol or caffeine anyway so that isn't an issue for me so I am not much help. But I am not on anti-virals ( yet ) - def not opposed to it - just haven't had to try that yet - I haven't had a vertigo attack ( knock on wood) since February -- if I do have one I will absolutely ask my Dr to start me on the AV's... So much helpful information here....I am so glad that I found this forum because I would never know. So thank you to all you long time members who give advice and offer your help.
As long as you lysine intake is more than your arginine eating nuts wont bring on symptoms, if your MM symptoms is caused by a virus. If you know your daily arginine intake is more than lysine and it is not causing symptoms then chances are you symptoms are not caused by an HSV.
Are you taking any supplements or is the low sodium diet the only change that you have had to make? Thanks, Nickyschick.
keep in mind not everyone's Meniere's symptoms are caused by an HSV, which is why 1 treatment does work for all and different treatments work for different people.
I don't have a food connection. I have normal intake of sodium. (Initially dr had me decrease but my blood pressure plummeted so back to normal sodium for me!) Stress, lack of sleep and loud places are my primary triggers.
I take Lipoflavanoids -- 2 in the morning with a 1000 mg of B-12 - then 2 in the afternoon with another B-12 and then 1 at night about an hour before bed. I also take valium as needed ( if I start to feel dizzy i take one)My Dr prescribed 3 5 mg tabs a day but I dont ussually find I need to take 3 a day - I don't take a diuretic because I have a chronic bladder disease.... i"ve had 3 decadrom shots since February when I also started using a Minette device 4 times a day.... so far all of that in conjunction has kept me vertigo free since my last attack in February. I have no idea what is causing my MM - not opposed to being on AV - just so far I haven't needed to go that route yet.... I go for a hearing test next Weds - so i will be interested to see if I have any improvement at all since my last test 4 months ago - the tinnitus and aural fullness has definately diminished to a manageable level where I can at least concentrate at work.... and the fatigue and brain fog isn't so bad.... as long as I make sure I get rest when I need it.
it is possible that your body may not react well to some foods therefor causing undue inflammation and causing your body to not function properly. the foods may or may not be linked affecting virus. my triggers are dairy, sugar, caffeine and alcohol. I have not seen results with anti-virals.
