Before I knew that I had Meniere I joined a forum for those affected by tinnitus. I know that it is not the same and perhaps this information is not useful, but for tinnitus several medications are being tested and I copy the translation of it:

Different drugs have been proposed as part of a neuropharmacological treatment. It is currently treated with pregabalin, mirtazapine, and gabapentin; and a clinical trial with neramexane is ongoing. Pregabalin is an antiepileptic used in generalized anxiety disorder, which reduces the intensity of tinnitus and does not produce tolerance or addiction. Mirtazapine is an antidepressant with a sedative effect that significantly reduces the tone of tinnitus and does not produce tolerance or addiction. Gabapentin is an antiepileptic indicated in the treatment of neuropathic pain.

I do not know if they could help us with our tinnitus, it sounds to me to have read in the forum that Meniere could be caused by a type of epilepsy and some of these drugs are antiepileptic so maybe they even help more than we think. In any case, if someone gets one and decides to try it, they should comment on their experiences.

I have been prescribed Mirtazapine for sleeping issues and depression due to 3 years of hell with tinnitus.
I have been on it for 2 weeks now at 15 mg per day increasing to 30 mg today.
Certainly something strange has happened to me.
My tinnitus prior to starting Mirtazapine has followed a pattern which probably kicked in about 2 years ago. 1 or 2 days if I was lucky where it would be tolerable or manageable followed by 2 to 3 or 4 days where it is severely high and so on and so forth endlessly repeating this cycle no matter what I done.
The first week on Mirtazapine I went a whole week where I was hardly bothered about it which was incredible. The 2nd week has not been as good as the first week but still not having the ups and downs of what was previously happening to me.
I have also been on high levels of vitamins which I have stopped in the last week as I was having pretty bad bowel problems which I attributed to either the Vitamin C or Magnesium Glycinate so maybe stopping this abruptly has had a negative affect.
I will report further on how the 30 mg per day goes but I am hoping this could be a positive sign for me - certainly last week was the first time I felt normal in a long time

Up to 4 days ago I was taking Seraquil to help me sleep but stopped it. It caused me to urinate more, something I don't need now as I have prostrate cancer. It also made me feel hung over if I didn't take it by 9PM or so. I see my ENT this coming week, I may ask him about Mirtazapine.
