Does anyone else experience physical symptoms? Aside from the vertigo and tinnitus, I experience facial numbness, feel sometimes like my speech is effected, arm and leg weakness, heart palpitations and tingling or numbness in my hands.

I have had all the test (hearing, mri, nerve test, stress test, heart ultrasound, blood work etc.) to rule out other concerns and all clear.

This happens on onset of attack and dissipates when attacks are over. I have done allot of research and it seems like not allot of people experience or talk about physical symptoms.

Just curious if this happens to anyone else?

Jax, yes, I experience very similar symptoms as you mention. Especially the numbness & tingling, pins & needle sensations in hands and feet. Cold hands and feet too.

I seem to get it at all stages of Meniere's. As the fluid in the inner ear sac increases, these symptoms also increase. As an attack nears, it gets much stronger, vertigo and nausea ramps up.

Also a yes to the speech being affected along with mental fogginess, heavy headedness, clumsiness and balance issues. These symptoms only abate once the attack is over, after the hangover period. Then I feel good for a few days until it starts all over again.

Thanks for the feed back. I'm just trying to figure out what is normal and abnormal for this deal. I have connected it to this mainly because my physicals and exams show no other reason for it and it only happens with the attacks.

I have been also researching the symptoms of an anxiety attack. while these physical symptoms don't seem to match Meniere's they exactly match anxiety. I'm usually good at managing stress however I am starting to think that that the onset of an attack (because of the confusion) is triggering an anxiety attack as well? Yet to be determined.

I don't believe it is anxiety. While I dread the attack phase, or an impending attack, and the vertigo is bad, it's the hours of vomiting that are the most unpleasant, coupled with the vertigo. Then, the hangover effect that lasts for a few days afterwards. All, with the symptoms you mentioned, plus mental fogginess, heavy-headedness, neck tension on the affected side, fatigue, etc.

I read somewhere that all these symptoms, including the tingling, numbness, etc. is the brain trying to make sense of the confused signal it is getting from the problem inner ear in comparison to what the other senses like the eyes are telling the brain. Or, it's the brain trying to compensate for the messed up inner ear signals in comparison to the eyes signals to the brain.

To a lesser degree, I get the tingling/numbness during non-attack phases. It intensifies just prior to and during the attack though. Then subsides afterwards to a much more tolerable level. These symptoms occurred for years, prior to being diagnosed with Meniere's. I thought I was pre-diabetic as they are symptoms of that too. Now I know what it is.

Interesting, i had the same kind of symptomes for the first time in 13 years a week ago, was short intense burst that lasted like 1 to 3 second, happened for 3 or 4 day and it subsided. It was quite scary.
I started wearing a plantar orthosis for my back pain problem on those same days.

Hi! I have Raynaud's, so lousy circulation and the very cold hands and feet have been with me for a while...you mentioned "weakness"- this is the first time I've had that, don't know if it's a stand-alone symptom, or an extension of the deep fatigue that I can't seem to shake. Still learning about this ...good luck and well being!

Question, I'm taking broad based antiviral now. You mentioned "and maintain". How do you maintain?

    JonBubo,
I stopped Acyclovir for 3 mo after taking for a year and a half. The reason of stopping is that I thought I felt some nausea and my appetite increased, and some mussel pain. Now I am back to Acyclovir because Meniere's symptoms started on my good ear (nerve pain around the ear, periodic fulness and start loosing hearing, and also starting tinnitus on that ear). Where on this site I can look the suggestions to use the alternatives of antiviral drug (oils, monolaurin, etc)?
I believe that it's good time to time to take breaks for JOH's vitamins and supplements, one in a time. Something like 3 weeks in a year to avoid that body become used to the constant dosages. What do you think? Will appreciate yours and others opinions
My ENT doctor wants to perform interpantenic dephmotison (steroid injection through the ear drum). I afraid to damage my good ear. Is anyone has experience with such procedure? I can't look through everything on this side since I am recovering after Glaucoma surgery and it's hard to read a lot.

    Hello Jax,
I'm new to the forum. I started having fullness in ear and vertigo while recovering from Covid-19 in March 2020.
I have numbness under my chin. I don't know if you have the same. I read it's a nerve called the Mental nerve. So besides having vertigo without a diagnosis yet, I'm worried about this Mental nerve thing. Please talk with your doctor about your symptoms. It could be something serious.
