Hi All! Let me start by saying that I am grateful for stumbling over this forum with such a dedicated, insightful, and helpful group of people! Some Background: I'm 31 and I was diagnosed with Meniere's Disease about 4 years ago when I suffered a horrifying attack that came out of nowhere. After consulting various specialists and performing endless tests, I finally came to terms that I have Meniere's. My first experience (4 years ago) of MD lasted about 1 year and eventually went away after taking Prednisone. I went about 2 years with not a symptom in sight, while even indulging in the many triggers of MD (I was a big coffee drinker). It was obviously too good to be true and once again, the hardcore symptoms of MD came out of nowhere around early 2021. Within the last year or so I have tried many things to help reduce the symptoms. I have even done therapies such as chiropractic and acupuncture and taken medical treatments such as Betahistine and Triamterene with no success. I once again took Predison which helped bring down the pressure/fullness in the ear and slightly reduce the tinnitus. However, the symptoms of ear pressure/fullness and tinnitus slowly came back with intensity a while after the treatment was over. I luckily haven't had a vertigo attack in a few months, but I often find myself "heavy headed" along with my intense ear pressure/fullness and tinnitus. Now: I came across this forum and am amazed by the success some people have had with the JOH regimen. From my findings I can see that many individuals are doing a modified version of the regimen due to lack of product availability. Can anyone confirm which products are an absolute must and which ones I can get away without taking. So far Lysine is a key component. Is there anything else I really need to take to make the regimen effective. @John of Ohio any input? I want to thank you guys in advance for your help!!!
Hey Marko, I have bilateral MD from 2017 when I was in my 40’s. I follow John of Ohio, he is an intelligent man who provides wonderful insight to this wretched disease. I have been using his regimen since 2017 with betahistine. I tried to stop using betahistine after using the JOH regimen for 12 months but mild dizziness (not vertigo) returned so I went back to it. I used every component in the original regimen for about 3 years and have switched to this modified regimen that has kept me free from vertigo, dizziness, aural fullness, brain fog and ear pressure. My tinnitus is permanent from losing most of my hearing but channelised hearing aids help reduce the level of tinnitus. Here is what I use, there is my MD and yours so we may have different results but I wish you all the best. Today is not forever my friend. Vitamin D-3: 5,000iu Vitamin K2 (MK-7) with Nattokinase -100 mcg Magnesium Glycinate -400 mg Vitamin D-3 5000 IU Ginkgo Extract-120mg Lysine 1,000mg three times daily Sustained Release Vitamin C - 1000mg , twice daily Vitamin E-400iu: d-alpha form Vitamin B complex *Betahistine 24mg every 8 hours
The Key to the JOH is Lysine if your MH is a result of the herpes virus! I started the full regimen on 3/8/22. I have reduced the other components (vitamin c, vinpocentine, vitamin e, lemon vioflavonoid, ginko, MSM). I have not any episodes since. Recommend you do the full to start. In my research I have found that Lysine is the key. Some pharmacist even recommend lysine to control fever blisters also caused by herpes.
Thank you very much for your feedback! Hopefully the regimen will work for me! Silly question: Seeing as there's a lot of pills to take, do you take them all one shot or spread them throughout the day?
Silly question: Seeing as there's a lot of pills to take, do you take them all one shot or spread them throughout the day?[/QUOTE] I take most of the regimen after breakfast. The lysine should be taken around 30 minutes before a meal or at least 2 hours after a meal or it’s useless. I take the magnesium before I go to bed with the last dose of lysine. I sure hope that you will start feeling better. Hang in there, it can take up to 6 months for the regimen to kick in but most people have good results with it. Stay disciplined with the regimen and I am confident that you will start feeling better. Good luck!
I spread mine out. BTW I never reordered the vinpocentine and lemon bioflavonoid so I have been off of them for a while. Just ran out of vitamin E and ginko. I started taking a multivitamin. So now I take 1000mg of lysine in the morning when I wake up, 1,000 mg early afternoon, and 1000 mg before I go to bed. I'm still taking MSM.
Thanks for the input guys really appreciate it! One last question: how long would I need to do the regimen in order to confirm whether or not I happen to be in the 15% that it doesnt work for?
I have reports from regimen users that it can take as long as six months to become fully effective. Usually, symptomatic improvements start within a few weeks, but for some it takes much longer. Persist on it for six months before giving up. And, as previously noted, quite often symptoms actually get worse when starting the regimen; it seems not to be working at all. Same thing often happens when taking prescription antiherpetic drugs (acyclovir, etc.). The virus, when being suppressed, actually, for a time, becomes more active. But when this occurs, in almost every case where the treatment or regimen is continued, the virus and symptoms are suppressed. --John of Ohio
Perfect thanks for that! I'll make sure to persist and do it for at least 6 months. Fingers crossed!!!
