Hi everyone. Eight months post Labrynthectomy. Doing great! No Cochlear Implant yet. May or may not get one down the road. Hearing is mildly compromised in good ear, so not huge issue for me. Wife might tell you different. Equilibrium issues from time to time, but deal with them and press on. First driving of the day feels a little off, but better as time goes by. No more diuretics. Meclizine is PRN and have not needed it for a while. Surgical area behind ear is still sore...mastoidectomy. Stoked with life after surgery! Wondering if any of my fellow labrynthectomy comrades have gone swimming since surgery. Planning to go in December at Dominican Republic and Antigua? Always available to answer questions or help ease anxiety for any contemplating this surgery. It changed my life for the better. Jim

Balance is pretty good for the most part. Sometimes feel a little off balance but dealing with it well. Uneven ground is a bit of a challenge with balance for me but all manageable. I got my life back. I'm thrilled.

Congratulations! I’m 16 months post surgery and have been swimming a few times. It was fine but I kept it pretty tame.

My balance is ok but I’ve haven’t trained it to the point that I can surf again. I’ve done a little rock climbing and that was a good challenge.

The labyrinthectomy surgery is easily the best decision I made related to Ménière’s. I wish I had found a doctor who would do it a decade earlier. I also did a cochlear implant and have had mixed to poor results.

Glad to hear someone has been swimming post-surgery. I am a little apprehensive and will plug my bad ear in an effort to keep the water out...if I go swimming. My hesitation is more related to the hole in my eardrum that may not have completely closed. After labrynthectomy I had an ear infection and they noted the hole was still open slightly. Surprised us all since the perforated drum was over a year and a half old. Best thing I ever did too was the surgery. Balance issues come and go, but mostly good. struggling a little today, but stress is a contributor and today is a stressful day for other reasons. Glad you are doing well and thanks for the feedback.
