What does an attack mean to everyone? People on here talk of an attack, but do they always mean a spin out? For me the dizziness is less of a problem. I have had it, but only severe once a few years ago. For me I wake up daily and, depending on various factors, my single-sided deafness is either really really bad, or I can hear about 50% (the best it gets). An attack for me is when my ear is completely plugged and I can't hear.
An attack means agony- everything around keeps spinning for hours -anything between 15-22hrs. Nystagmus is always present and lots of vomiting. Also tears …. lots of them …
For me, an attack is when the vertigo comes on to the point that I can't stand up, the world spins and I have to lay down until it passes, which is several hours. There may be nausea and vomiting. I also classify less severe bouts as "events" rather than attacks. This could be milder dizziness that I can function through. I can normally walk, if somewhat unsteadily. I normally just sit down for a few hours until these pass. Typically there is no nausea with these.
A "real" meniers attack for me is totally deaf in my left ear, down on the floor, spinning counter clockwise total vertigo. It usualy involves vomiting for at least an hour. I've managed to avoid that now for the last two years with my regime but that does not keep the dizziness away. The dizziness comes and goes and when it's coming on I make a real effort to keep my motions slow with no rapid head movement. It reminds me way back in the day when i was into drugs. I somehow managed to function despite seeing double.... I guess that was training me for my future.
