I’m so curious how often do you experience an episode?

For me, they tend to come in clusters. I might get nothing for a year, then the fullness will build up over a few days and then I will get a super severe attack with massive vertigo and nausea that lasts most of a day. Then probably a few more serious ones over the next few days. Then they will tail off, becoming less severe, lasting less time and spaced further apart. Then back to normal (still hearing loss and tinnitus) for a period.

The last cluster I had was August/September of last year which followed exactly this pattern. Since then, absolutely nothing. However - I started the JOH regime, had inner ear steroid injections and have been taking Acyclovir daily. Whether one or more of things is working and the virus is in remission, or it's still part of my cycle, I don't really know.

New here….have been dealing with dizzy episodes for the past year. Many drs and tests later, diagnosed with Menieres. For me the attacks are in clusters also. Episodes usually run for 2-4 weeks with attacks every few days. Attacks vary in intensity and duration - some lasting a few hours, worst one lasted over 40 hours. I’ve had 4 of these clusters over the past year averaging 3 months between clusters. As Al DM mentioned, when cluster is winding down the episodes are less severe and last less time but mine are spaced closer together when they are winding down rather than spaced apart.

Hello, the replies on this strand are very helpful to me, as I have been recently diagnosed with Meniere's Disease and am journaling basic information when I experience an episode.

I have not been able to find much detail in the published clinical literature on clustering of episodes, which is described in a few of the responses on this strand.

I had a few episodes spaced 7 years apart and then since last November have experienced 4 (with the most recent 2 occurring within 8 days of each other.)

Thank you all for your replies - very helpful information.

I think there's no answer to this because it depends. Everyone is different. I had my first episode on August 7th, 2022 and then one roughly every week, sometimes almost two weeks between episodes. My last one was on October 8th and I haven't had one since. A couple of times I thought I might be on the verge, but it never happened. On October 21st, I changed my diet dramatically, eliminating gluten, dairy, eggs, and watched my salt. I also started the JOH regimen about 45 days ago.

The question will always be whether might dietary changes and the JOH can be credited with no episodes, but I'll likely never know and frankly I don't care because all of these changes are positive anyways. Now I'm hoping to keep episodes at zero, stabilize my hearing, reduce ear fullness, pops, and pain. Beyond that, maybe, just maybe, some hearing will recover along with a reduction in tinnitus.

I’m a new member. I was diagnosed with Menderes’ in 2020. Yesterday I had a pretty severe vertigo/ throw up session 8 hours after I had two knee cortisone shots. Has anyone also experienced this or do you think it was just a coincidence? My last bad episode was over two years ago.

Over the three years that I was diagnosed I’ve had bad episodes like this about three - four times.
