Hello, Part of me is happy that sites like this one are still fighting the fight and giving Menieres support. The other part is sad that after 23 years this awful disease still has no cure. Two weeks ago, I woke up and felt that awful feeling that I thought was gone forever and thought it might be just low blood sugar..sadly, I was wrong. I woke up to brain fog, tinnitus and mild dizziness. I am fortunate enough not to have vertigo and fullness in my ears as of now. My first experience with Menieres 23 years ago was ear fullness, tinnitus, and brain fog. A low salt diet, Triamterene and no caffeine did the trick after 9 months. I am originally from the US but now live in Canada...hello SERC. Just got back from a family doctor and was prescribed with SERC...something that wasn't available in the US. My question is, can I also combine the JOH vitamins with the SERC? Also, it will be a while before I see a specialist so I am trying to get a handle on this. On top of the symptoms I posted, going in and out of warm buildings when it's cold outside makes my ears feel inflamed. Anybody else experience that? Was hoping I had an infection but the doctor said my ears were clear. Any answers and ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Hey, Do you have mucus build up in your throat on your affected side? Dr's have constantly told me that Meniere's makes it feel like that. But, I am positive that my eustachian tube on my affected side doesn't work well. I know I will have an attack because I will be unable to equalize my ear on that side during the flare up.
Hi Capnbny, Yes, I have been getting a lot of chest congestion in both lungs...my bad ear is on the left. This is very frustrating because I get a chest cold for about a week and then it clears up and then comes back again. I also have COPD which makes things even worse with this ear flare up. The first of January during one of my episodes I coughed so hard I cracked two ribs. The weird thing is, I don't feel any fullness in my ears so I don't know where the dizziness, tinnitus and brain fog is coming from. Maybe my SERC is doing its job by keeping my ear pressure down. I read the JOH post so it looks like I will switch over to that after another week of trying SERC. With my job,
Please post your results when you switch to the JOH regimen. I know that some people don't get the fullness with their attacks. Do you notice your hearing goes away during an attack?
Cont: with my job I don't have time to wait another 6 months to see a specialist and go through all of the tests. I am going back to see my GP next Saturday and ask to try an anti viral. Even if I get into to see an ENT there is no guarantee he will do anything other than the old water pill with shrugging shoulders. I am heading to to the vitamin store today and try the JOH approach if SERC doesn't help. My GP said that I should immediately see results with SERC so we shall see.
You asked about my attacks....I don't notice any hearing loss in my effected ear during an attack because I am so focused on the dizzy aspect. I can't wait to see the look on my GP doctors face when I ask, or shall I say, beg for Acyclovir if SERC doesn't give me any relief. After reading posts from JOH I agree that this is a virus that effects your inner ear. Will let you know how things go this coming week. I wish I could tell my employer that I will see you guys in a year after all of the usual tests and still get paid but that ain't happening. A mortgage and mouths to feed having this crap is scary... I am hoping for a quick fix if possible so I don't have to go on disability.
