Talked to an audiologist assistant today and I asked her if they could detect Meniere's Disease and she said yes... is that true? At this point I will try anything because it will take me about a year to see an ENT doctor in Canada. Back in December I made an appointment with a respiratory doctor with an appointment next week... I plan on trying to tie my lung issues with my ears and see if he will help...I'm guessing I will get the..."that is not my specialty." Three Doctors have told me I don't have Meniere's but they don't seem to know why I have tinnitus and brain fog.
I doubt it unless they test you for it - balance, and eye (not sure what the tests are called). Mine was missed by a local ENT doctor and an audiologist until a second audiologist who suspected that was what I had sent me to an ENT doctor who diagnosed it.
I doubt it, and if they think it’s in their area of responsibility, they’re probably focus on one aspect of Menieres. For example, perhaps they think that if you’re audiogram shows low frequency hearing loss greater than 30db then it’s a sign of Menieres. The problem is that an audiogram is a point in time, second Menieres is a collection of symptoms, only one of which is hearing loss.
Dear Jonn, why ist it so important for you that it IS MD? Do you need that diagnosis for not being labelled with psychogenic reasons? There are many reasons for your symptoms. Maybe you should not ask the doctor do I have Menière's, but ask for help with your symptoms. Lung & heart issues, panic attacks and brainfog often come along with post or long Covid. Or with chemicals in your house, a new car, your workspace ..... You can (only) see Menière with "Frenzel Glasses", during and shortly after a Vertigo attack. You do not have these attacks, which is wonderful!!! I can recommend the YouTube Videos of Julian Cowan Hill. Best wishes Lilja
Thanks Lilja, I will take your advice and stop trying to over complicate things. Mortgage, car note, insurance, food.. and I am the bread winner worrying that I won't be able to work. It's just that the brain fog is so bad I can barely function. I have a specialist appointment this week and hopefully they can help.
I am the bread winner too. Went through all of this. You can do it! It’s different than before, but not impossible. You have a huge support system here. You just need to get used to the new normal. Not easy but doable. Hang in!
