Can't understand the push back from doctors when you ask for an anti-viral.. been shut down twice now. Finally getting a CT scan of my ears after practically begging. In the meantime, I am on 1000 mg of Lysine and will bump up to 3000. With the JOH vitamins he says it could take up to 6 months for relief... is there anybody posting here that has had faster results? With no family support I guess I am looking for a miracle. If money wasn't such an issue I would be on the streets. Tired of being told to suck it up and get counselling.
Talk to any two ENT's on this disease and they won't agree on the treatment. Mine prescribed ONLY 2 weeks of anti virals AT MY REQUEST and I don't think that was long enough to determine effectiveness.
Yes, many users of my regimen, with the lysine in particular, have gained symptomatic relief in less than several months. A few in just a week or two. Why this period to first relief varies is unknown. Hope that it can happen soon for you. Simply, persist. Be sure to take the lysine at least 20 minutes before a meal, or at least 2 hours after one. --John of Ohio
Hi, No one is sure what I have. Is it Covid or Covid (1st two) vaccines, menieres, or vestibular migraine’s. No one knows for sure and the ENT dr said it wasn’t MD, but wanted to sell me hearing aids. My internest said to be happy the the specialist found nothing. I’m calling it an idiopathic disease. I was in a world of hurt for 3 1/2 mos. And, scared of an attack for another 2 mos. Once I felt normal (no prodrome- disequilibrium/facial tingling, and an onset of vomiting, super vertigo, overly sensitive senses and headaches) I gradually stopped the JOH regime. I was feeling so good and less fearful and just forgot to take them. I’m trying to get back on them, I now have mild positional vertigo, so I’m fearful, of course. Two take aways, 1- vomit pill stopped my attacks (Ondansetron- my miracle pill ) . 2). When on the JOH Regime, take the Ginko Bilobia without food and instead of MSM, take magnesium gluconate it’s easier to digest and can help with sleep. I feel for you and I’m glad you are reaching out. It’s a scary place to be in. I think, everyone can empathize with you. And, thankfully, God is always there for us!
I feel for you and the position you’re in. This disease is hard enough, never mind without the support of loved ones. I do understand that they don’t “get it” but you have to hope for some empathy. As for when you get relief, it comes in all shapes and sizes. Timing, which symptom, and overall relief is different for everyone. That’s why you’ll hear us remind you to persist for month after month. The crappy thing is that you can have relief one week and then feel like you revert the next. I’m constantly reminding myself that this goes in waves and I remember what I was like 6 months ago. I am just finishing up my 7th week of antivirals and even that has been up and down. After a week I had noticeable relief in aural fullness and less swallowing discomfort. Then I pretty much felt the same for the next month. Then I had one of my best weeks after, only to have a terrible day yesterday. But guess what? That good week wraps up the longest sustained improvement that I’ve had in certain symptoms for at least the last 4 months. Yesterday, my bad day was better than my bad days from 4 months ago. It’s hard to remember that.
Dr. Mark Gacek in Mobile, AL, USA gives antiviral meds and is convinced 90 percent of cases is viral. He does video appointments too.
Has anyone had an inner ear exploratory under twilight anesthesia to find answers? I have had 12 steroid shots in the eardrum and been taking acyclovir for since late December 2022. Have had relief from nausea and head pain, reduced ear fullness and pain and better hearing, still have persistent imbalance which is the worst. Thinking about the exploratory and praying for an answer.
Hi Ondansatron is a tiny tablet that immediately stops you from vomiting. Im not sure if JOH regimen works but I dutifully adhered to it for the first four or five months of the onslaught of every few days of attacks. Then, I got lazy and quit most of it. But, I still take L-lysine Ginko Bilobia, and zinc in the morning. I try to remember the rest of the pills during the day and take L-lysine 1-2 times more.
