I found a " mercury safe" D.D.S. here in Reno, and have an appointment tomorrow morning. I will be getting 3-D x-rays and consultation. I have a mouth full of amalgam fillings and 2 have broken. Also, I am in the SPI-1005 study and get the real drug in July so gonna double down and see what happens. Well, we shall see if I can afford the amalgam work tomorrow. Haha, gotta make an attempt! Has anyone out there removed amalgam fillings? I am probably gonna be shell shocked on cost. We shall see...
I had all my mouth amalgams removed. Also had two root canals re-done. Cracked tooth taken out my fillings had leaked into my cheek tissue. I even had a biopsy done. It all cost me about $8000-10k with a little bit of help from Insurance. It was not fun but I’m so glad I had it done as far as the Ménière’s. I haven’t noticed a difference but I’m sure that would take time and I don’t know if it undoes what damage has been done already toxin wise.
I had all my amalgam fillings replaced w/ ceramic fillings quite a number of years ago. I didn't think there were any dentists still repairing cavities w/ amalgam fillings. I will say that I've recently learned that some of my ceramic fillings are cracked & will need to be replaced eventually. They've probably been in place for close to 30 yrs. As far as cost goes, I had good dental insurance at the time so it was at least partially covered, but I don't remember at this point how much I paid. I did pay $6K to get 2 crowns replaced & 2 additional crowns added a few years ago. That was a bit painful financially. @Mark55 - what did you find out from the new dentist re: cost? Dentists, like doctors, will often offer a lower price if you're cash paying as opposed to going via insurance. Their billing offices are also usually willing to set up payment plans for larger bills.
About $8500.00 for everything I need done. 3-D x-rays were not cheap, but effective for sure. Had one broken molar extracted. I have been going through M.D. chaos for the last month. Ever evolving this go round. When I hit 2 weeks of no flare ups, I will get the next phase done. Doc is well aware of my situation as I had an attack on the way to get stitches out. Meclizine and a buddy got me to the chair. Took awhile haha!
So sorry you have so many things you're dealing w/ right now, @Mark55. I hope the dental work doesn't send your MD symptoms into orbit. That's a hefty sum for fillings, but it sounds like you have more than just filling removal/replacement that you're dealing w/. I'll pray for the MD symptoms to stay at bay while you're going through the dental work & so you can get on to the next phase of the trial.
Thanks for the prayers! It took some work getting the bad tooth out. Very long root. Did it aggravate things a bit? Absolutely! But the tooth needed to come out as their was an infection. The total cost includes: Amalgam removal from 3 teeth, 2 porcelain crowns, 3 cavities that will be filled with resin and pocket where wisdom teeth were removed on left side back in 09' will be cleaned out as it appears a bit of an infection could be going on there. Alot, but needed! And I start the real drug next Monday! Looking forward to getting the SPI-1005 meds in the body!! Keep ya posted
WOW! OK, I rescind my comment about your cost being hefty (though it still is ). You're getting a lot done for the price. It would likely be double that where I live!! I'm glad this will soon be behind you. HOORAY for the real drug coming to you soon!!
It looks like we'll be experiencing this drug at roughly the same time! I start taking it on July 12th! I don't know what to make of it, and I'm certainly not putting much weight in it, but I had an audio test this past Monday and everything was pretty much as it has been over the past year except I had a 15db improvement in 250Hz. So odd, and as we know hearing can and will fluctuate. If nothing else it shows me that my hearing can potentially improve.
Hey, congrats on the hearing improvement. Any improvement is a good thing. I am excited about getting this drug study going. Good, bad or indifferent, it's been a long wait and ready to get going! Look forward to our comparisons. Safe travels
