I just can't figure out why my good ear hearing fluctuates SO MUCH from one day to the next. Yesterday - pretty good, today - terrible.

Two nights ago, I took 5mg of Reactine, which is Cetrizene Hydrochloride, before I went to bed. Slept well and the next day my hearing was fine. Last night, no Reactine and today almost no hearing.

Has anyone experimented with antihistamines as they relate to hearing loss?

I have, but haven’t experienced any connection between taking an antihistamine and my symptoms.

I have read that many believe that allergies can have a significant impact on our symptoms in that it weakens our immunity. Some clinics even include allergy management as part of their treatment protocol - I know that the House Clinic in LA does. For myself, and it could be coincidental but my two latest hearing events both happened in April/May of last year and right now, both of which are seasonal transitions and high in allergies. I’m actually going to get retested for allergies sometime in the future and will likely go back on allergy shots.

Why don’t you take a Reactine multiple consecutive days whether you feel the need or not and see what happens?
