Hello All! I was first diagnosed with meniere's 17 years ago, and over the years have had many trials and tribulations of dealing with the symptoms and vertigo...but for the most part have been able to manage it with meds, a decent diet and lots of fluids. About a year and a half ago I noticed that I was getting a different type of vertigo/dizziness (in addition to regular vertigo that I was used to), and I named it positional vertigo...because it was short lasting and came and went with changes in the position of my head/body. My doctor said it is BPPV, with the crystals...so have been learning to live with that also. Then 6 weeks ago I had two terrifying vertigo attacks in one day that I had no idea what the h**l happened. I was finally able to get to my ENT doctor this week and he diagnosed tumarkin's otolithic crisis, or drop attacks. I have only had the two, both in one day (and luckily I was sitting during both!), none since...thankfully! I am absolutely terrified that I will get another random attack when I am driving and cause an accident, at work (I work with special needs children), going down the stairs, etc. There is no way to predict when they happen, they come and go...some people only get them a few times, for others they are disabling. Just wondering if there is anyone else on here that might be dealing with them? I am having drop attack nightmares...ugh!
Another note to add...my mom also had meniere's for most of her life. She was diagnosed at 21, passed away at 69, almost completely deaf by that time.
I had this episode a few years ago where I suddenly fell. It was also blamed on Meniere’s. It was very scary and went with getting dizzy while I was on the floor. It happened to me about two times.! Thank G-d! It didn’t happen again.
Good morning! I had 2 drops in November. Started the day I added L Lysine to my regimen. No BPPV in regards to moving head, but some super short vertigo episodes. My drop was like being flung to the ground. Hoping and praying they go away for you and anyone else suffering from them! Stay strong
