    Hello,

I'm new to this forum (this is my first post). I apologize for my English which is not perfect. I live in Germany and have probably menieres disease.

During my vertigo attacks I have horizontal nystagmus which lasts around 20 to 30 minutes. My husband made videos of my eye movements with his cellphone so that we could show it to my doctor.

I have read that when you have horizontal nystagmus you have probably menieres disease, and when you have vertical nystagmus you have probably vestibulare migraine (Dr. Helmut Schaaf). Has anyone heard of this?

I also have tinnitus and ear fullness. But my hearing is quite good (left ear slightly worse than the right ear). The reaction of my left ear is slower (caloric testing).

I take 3 x 24 mg of Betahistin daily. But I had two vertigo attacks again today. Therefore I'm quite desperate. I couldn't go to work the last four weeks because of my vertigo attacks and dizziness. And I hoped that I might get better soon. I'm still unsure if I have the right diagnosis or can it be something else?

Therefore can you please tell me if your nystagmus is also horizontal?

When I went through all of the testing I didn't have any nystagmus.

My wife is a physical therapist and regularly treats Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) so she tested me for it right away and there was nothing. I was also tested by the ENT and Audiologist and nothing.

When I did the balance and caloric testing with the the audiologist I showed a 15% slower response in my "bad" ear compared to my good ear, but the audiologist said that 15% doesn't really tell him anything because it's not really outside of normal range.

So what does your ENT doctor tell you which disease you have? Have you vertigo or dizziness or both?

Until now I had vertigo attacks with nystagmus only at home, at work, at my parents house and in the car. Not when I was at the ENT doctor. That's why my husband made videos of my nystagmus, so that my ENT doctor can see that I have a real problem.

Also I hoped that with these videos of the horizontal nystagmus the diagnosis for menieres can more easily be obtained?

At this site you can see videos of different forms of nystagmus:
    Dizzy movies
My nystagmus looks like the one in the menieres video.

I've been told by 2 different ENTs that I have Meniere's Disease.

I've not heard of nystagmus being used to diagnose Meniere's. I believe nystagmus usually indicate you have some other problem such as BPPV, but I'm no doctor so take that with a grain of salt.

am at 69% last test was 6 years ago, i feel dizzy/weird all the time it made my life a nightmare.(sometime its horizontal, at night its vertical)
I stopped seing doctors and ENT because in 2019 after he asked me how i felt and i answered i had pain in my ear he got up behind his deck and screamed at me till his face and neck was red. Never in my fucking life i will be talked to like this or am gonna kill, so i just avoid those fuckers.
My back is shot too and its almost impossible to take pain meds who numb me because it increase vertigo. GRRR.

    GRRRAHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
