I have noticed a few posts mentioning high dose betahistine. These two papers suggest much higher doses than the range being discussed might be required: High-dosage betahistine dihydrochloride between 288 and 480 mg/day in patients with severe Menière's disease: a case series - PubMed Betahistine Exerts a Dose-Dependent Effect on Cochlear Stria Vascularis Blood Flow in Guinea Pigs In Vivo
Hi, My ENT actually told me he heard a lot about that. We currently trying it for me with 432 mg a day. Keep you posted how it goes
I just began using it in mid may. Only 48 mg total! (3 doses of 16 mg.) I have seen no noticeable decrease in tinnitus and pulsatile tinnitus--I am also on Nortriptyline 30 mg, at HS, which i feel is controlling the vertigo. I have only have one sort of bad one and a lot of "near misses" as I call them where it feels like one COULD happen. I think I will renew this betahistine but perhaps an increase? If doc won't I see no reason to take it. I am in the US and it was 172.00 for 30 days. Yikes.
