I have unexpectedly hit a rough patch with several attacks of vertigo lately. After over a year of clear sailing, what a wonderful disease. I have not actually got to the vomiting stage, mostly just pure vertigo and an urgent need for a bowel movement (TMI sorry ) I have a long day of flying coming up and my brother used a reliefband Reliefband® on a cruise they went on and he never felt any seasickness. The band advertises relief from nausea, not vertigo. I doubt that it would help with vertigo, but maybe it would or at least if it's a bad one it could prevent nausea. I was wondering if anyone here had tried one, they are not cheap!
When I was a flight instructor I had two students that used the cheap wrist bands that put pressure on the inside of the wrist. One would forget to put them on every now and then. He would be sick in a matter of minutes in the air. If he got them on he never had an issues. I know of the electronic ones, but have never talked to anyone that used them. I do know the cheap ones work for basic motion sickness. Just not sure how it would do for us.
Well I ordered and received the Reliefband but I haven't even opened the box yet, because ..... I'm not dizzy anymore! It turned out that I was suffering from BPPV, again. I went to Physio and they manipulated me and found that the pesky crystals were in the horizontal channel of my right (good) ear. They performed a "BBQ Roll" which I also did at home and now I feel pretty good! The one thing that was puzzling about these vertigo attacks was that I had no ear issues, like fullness or additional hearing loss. So, now I'm back to thinking my Meniere's has been almost a non-issue for a year and a half now, which I attribute to my very low carb (Keto-like) diet. Hooray!
You are not describing vertigo. Vertigo includes vomiting and fullness. May you never have the vomiting. It is horrific.
Yes, I've been there, more times than I want to remember. On the toilet with the bowl. I even keep a bowl in my car. You are right, these episodes were much lighter but still disrupting my life. But I'm quite happy that they seem to be BPPV rather than MD.
