Hi all - I'm about to start Acyclovir but I have many drug allergies. I am allergic to Penicillan and Sulpher drugs and years ago had a major reaction to Macrobid (antibiotic) causing me erythema nodosum and retinal vasulatis. Has anyone who has taken Acyclovir had any weird reactions? Thanks, Susan
Susan I get reactions to so many drugs I am medication sensitive and even stuff I have always taken now gives me an allergic or weird reaction even valcyclovir did, so I cant take that, but I have been on acyclovir for almost 3 years and KNOCK WOOD so far good. What I do is, with a new medication is take 1 pill and cut it in quarters and just take 1 quarter of the pill, if I am okay I take a half pill next day, if still okay 3/4 or the whole pill after that, then if I am still good I take the normal dose.
