Brilliant! I hope the FDA thinks the same as Sound.

Good news for all of us. Let's see if they approve it soon and it arrives quickly in countries outside the US.

It may not work for all of us, but it's one more thing we can try alongside everything else we already have (betahistine, diuretics, corticosteroids, etc.). It's always good to have options before going for destructive surgeries.

@yellowboy - Betahistine is used to help reduce fluid build up in the inner ear. I had an endolymphatic shunt placed in my MD ear in 2019 which does the same thing & nearly stopped my symptoms for 2 years but they slowly came back & hearing has gotten much worse. I'd be interested in trying Ebselen once it's on the market as my tinnitus is quite annoying as I recall is yours. I didn't think I'd qualify for the trials so didn't even try because of the endolymphatic shunt, but after they were done taking people, I learned perhaps the shunt didn't matter.

Those of us who are not from the USA, what options do we have to buy it online if it goes on sale there first? I remember reading colleagues to get betahistine from other countries because it is not sold in the USA, does anyone know how? Thank you

Betahistine is also named Serc which is sold by some Canadian pharmacies. Those pharmacies are slow to ship though. I believe some pharmacies have been named on here ? If not there are Facebook groups that talk about buying it from Canadian pharmacies.

@yellowboy - I misread your earlier post & just realized my response was unnecessary as the question about betahistine was a link to an article not a question you posed. Sorry for misinterpreting your post. ;)

    Hello,

I hope that something like this is possible in Europe. And that this drug is released soon.

    Thank you for your reply.

Great! I think the update we are waiting for is the one that says it's now available by prescription, but I don't know how long that takes.

Hello, some people are messaging me privately asking about the latest updates on this new drug. I don’t have any secret or privileged information. In this link shared by another colleague, they mentioned that a more complete analysis of the clinical trial would be published between February 22 and 26.

Sound Pharma Announces Positive Phase 3 Results for the Treatment of Meniere’s Disease with SPI-1005 - Sound Pharmaceuticals

If everything goes well, we will know more in 2 to 6 days. Let’s hope it’s good news.

Amazing! My partially deaf Guinea Pig will be so happy. Seriously, did they say anything about helping humans in there anywhere?

    Hi!

Nobody has heard anything new, right? The results were supposedly published at that conference 10 days ago. But it hasn't been made public yet.

Great find. For those curious, here is a link to the study details.

When CEO Jonathan Kil was asked in February about the drug's availability, his response was that it "depends on the FDA review in 2026 and hopefully the timelines wont be delayed following cuts to the FDA."

The FDA needs to go away. They've been the enemy of health care in the US from day one. Hopefully DOGE has them on their list. Ebselen is basically a vitamin derived from selenium. Why on earth are SPI (or ANYONE) having to spend a hundred million dollars to get some bureaucrats to approve it? I should be able to buy it on Amazon for peanuts. FFS, the FDA regularly approves poisons that get recalled and kill people all the time but they're screwing us out of a vitamin. We live in clown world.

Could someone clarify this? I’m not understanding anything. Supposedly, they already completed the phase 3 trial with good results (although I don’t think we’ve seen them anywhere), and now a new phase 3 trial has popped up, marked as not yet recruiting again. I’m starting to lose faith in this drug.
