Hi Nickyschick. Does your special custom made ear plug completely shut out the music? Could you explain how the ear plug helps you? Also, do you know the brand or could you post a picture of it?
    Thanks so much!

Definitely have fear sometimes. I have had attacks at work, in stores etc. Now that I have had numerous numerous drop attacks in front of people it doesn't seem like as big a deal. I try to drive less for sure. And there are certain things like (snowboarding, rock climbing etc) that I now have a tough time getting up the nerve to do now. More because I am scared for other people....lol But it's kind of like learning to take a poo in public places. One day you just have to get over it and do it. After you have done it enough times you head to the target bathroom with no shame and do your business.

After my last vertigo attack which came on very fast, I thought "I am going to have to quit work, I am not going to be able to drive, how do I dare hold my grandchildren or be alone with them etc, " it is scary, especially when they can come so fast, but then I thought, "I am not staying home in case I have an attack, what if I don't have one again for awhile, that is a lot of time wasted at home". With that attitude I overcame my fear, at least until the next attack, it has been 18 days since my last attack which is a long record for me, I hope it continues to be longer! Right now I feel I am on the right track with acyclovir, JOH regime and menitte device.

Miff, I use the wax plugs they sell for kids when swimming. For me they're the best as you can customize the wax to fit your ear.

Dolfan, do not live in fear as it won't change anything and the stress may make it worse. It's all about wrapping your head around it and living the best life you can. Without fear.

Try asking the Dr for an antiviral. It takes time. There's lots of research here that supports the use of Antivirals. You need to print dosage amounts and research to convince the Dr.
I've had a slide back but still taking a maintenance dose that was increased. I think the best advice I could give you about Antivirals is your Dr needs to understand that a few weeks or months of Antivirals doesn't work. You need to take it in higher doses at first and then maintain a maintenance dose.

This is my opinion based on my experience and some of the posts.regarding Antivirals support that.
It's good to see you back!
I'm sorry that you're experiencing this though.

I was not only afraid, I was frightened to death after I had experienced two vertigo episodes in 10 days, whereas I had had 10 episodes in total in 5 and a half years, with remissions as long as 15 months.

It has been more than ten months now since my lest episode and I am doing well. No symptoms beside always present tinnitus in my right ear which I do not notice most of the time. I am atypical, btw, as I never experienced fullness and my hearing is OK even during episodes.

How I managed... After finding this forum, I learnt about dr Gacek's and JOH protocols. So I started them both, although gradually introducing components of JOH. For terrible anxiety I went to a psychiatrist and got prescribed venlafaxine (brand name in the USA is Effexor XR I think). I am fine atm, an evidence is that I did not visit this forum for almost a month, so much relaxed I have been.

Of course, I think daily about MM, but I am not scared anymore. Hope this condition will last.

I take 800 mg od acyclovir in the morning. I also take 150mg venlafaxine then. From the JOH, I take one of Gingko, Vinpocetine, Lemon Bioflavonoids, Vitamin E and Vitamin C in the morning.

In the afternoon I take 1000mg of Lysine, and during supper I take another Vitamin C and one MSM capsule.

    Hope this helps.

Just to add, presuming that in majority of cases MM is caused by a virus and I am a pretty unnerved person myself, I think the venlafaxine, beside calming me down, also contributes to absence of MM symptoms.

Serbian, so glad that you are feeling better and believe that the detail you shared about the steps that worked for you are absolutely helpful for newcomers here. Especially since not everything works for everyone. Real personal experiences, in my opinion, are the ones that are easier to connect to!

I used to live in fear of attacks and had a great deal of anxiety and depression which I took medication for, but since my surgery I have found my life again without the fear that used to grip every aspect of my life.

Bless you and everybody else suffering from menieres.org syndrome

I think I should add this data to my forum record. I do not follow a low-salt diet. I smoke a pack of 20 cigarettes a day. I drink three cups of coffee a day. What I avoid is nuts and coke. But some days (rarely) I drink a lot of coke with no immediate consequences.

I am terrified of MD, never know when an attack will hit me. I have had a flare up for four months now, 3-4 attacks a week, some very violent. I started JoO regiment 2 weeks ago and Zovirax 5 days ago. No results so far. I am losing hope. Sometimes I don't want to live.I admire people who managed to live with it for years!!

    Marta,

    Persist!

Results, either with antiherpetic drugs, or with my regimen, don't occur immediately. Unfortunately, either of these treatments tend to make symptoms worse for a time, at the start.

But don't let the temporary worsening of conditions deter you. In virtually every case where this happens, the causative herpes virus is eventually controlled, and very positive results happen.

Keep us posted on your progress. We are with you (so many of us have been there and experienced it all).

    Hi Marta,

sorry to hear you are having such a tough time.

I was there, trust me. Let me be very clear about this, when people start saying they don't want to live and can't go on, then it is time to solve your problem and slay the mm beast forever. The truth is you don't have to live like you are living and feel the way you feel everyday.

If i were in your shoes i would schedule an appointment at a teaching hospital and ask them to take my diseased ear out immediately via a labyrinthectomy. It is a 2 hour surgery, you go in and leave the next day and within 2-3 weeks you will have your life back living a normal life.

There is a reason people with laby's have all left this forum and it is because they are out living normal lives.
Slay the beast forever and DO NOT LET THIS SHIT DISEASE CONTROL YOUR LIFE!

I do persist! I do try! Perhaps I am being a bit impatient . I wish I had found out about the regimen much sooner. Thank you for sharing it with us!
