    hi, how often do you have audiometry test? does the fluctuating hearing loss shown in the test result?

    my new ent said i might not have MM since my test result is pretty much consistent since 5 years ago. she said it could be sudden deafness instead of MM.

    thanks

    Ckdk,

    I've had Menieres for 20 years my experience pretty much followed the definition of Menieres except that the hearing loss was the first symptom to show up. It has never fluctuated. All of the other symptoms , aural fullness, tinnitus, vertigo are the same as what is described on the Menieres websites.

    I hope you don't have it, but some of us who do experience some differences with some of our symptoms. For instance some of us have tinnitus that comes and goes; mine is 24/7.

    I wouldn't put as much weight on hearing loss, as the other 3 symptoms of MM, since hearing can fluctuate so much. If we could have our hearing tested on our good hearing days, consistently over time, then the tests would have real meaning.

    CKDK, correct me if I'm wrong, but you've had MM symptoms on & off since 2014, and you're still not sure if it's MM?

    I mean no sarcasm by that. Just trying to understand.

    Have you had an ENG and Caloric Visual test?

    @Melc - i also had tinnitus 24/7.

    @pupper - the reason i asked this is because i went to several ENTs, neurologist and some said it's MM. some said it's sudden deafness because my audiometry results were not fluctuating.

    No ENT has asked me to take ENG or Caloric Test. i will ask this during my next appointment. although during vertigo attacks i did have nystagmus. maybe the doctors in my country are not fully aware of MM. I even got AV from my GP who is more open.

    CKDK, it could be both. You could have sudden deafness and MM. But if you have fluctuating dizziness/vertigo, tinnitus, and aural fullness, and have had it for years...it really sounds like MM. Regardless of your sudden deafness. You should give me the name of your country so I can write your president.
