I used to have the vertigo attacks only about every month or so, very severe. I could not stop vomiting and they would last hours. I have been on the JOH protocol along with 500 mg of Valtrex for a few week now. Now I am getting vertigo daily, but it goes away pretty quickly with no vomiting. But I am dizzy all the time and have constant fullness in my ear. anyone else experience this change?
Yes, that happened to me...kind of. I had short vertigo spells almost daily for two months. I wasn't dizzy all the time, though. I'm on JOH, a diuretic, and after complaining about my frequent vertigo, my doc prescribed Serc. I've been on Serc for 6 weeks and my vertigo episodes are starting to go away. I have one short one each week. It lasts for about a minute and then I'm back to business. My ear is feeling less full, but I still have some wicked pulsing tinnitus.
Vicki, that is what my GP gave me...I am seeing a neurologist on Thursday. I have printed out all the virus info and given it to him to read weeks ago. we shall see.
Hopefully you can get the required doses for MM so you can tell one way or the other if it helps you or not.
I found JOH a waste of time for me. So much promise and so little delivery, but according to JOH I am in the minority. However, I am lucky enough to live in Western Europe where we have a different inner ear anatomy from you guys across the pond, such that Serc actually works. Apparently in the USA it doesn’t!
I understand you being disappointed that JOH didn't work. But it's a little unfair to say that much was promised. John is up front regarding the numbers and likelihood of it helping you. I think it stands at 85% effective at providing decent relief for our disease... that inherently means that 15% don't find relief. Even if you are part of the 15%, it was an important step to take because the fact that it was not effective at helping you control the disease itself is an important data point. It might indicate that an inner ear candida infection, or an upper cervical spinal alignment problem is the cause of your disease and so those would probably be worth while things to attempt next to deal with this. Also. How long were you on it? Some do not find relief for a number of months.
@yellow Most likely your MM does not have a viral cause and also SERC does not work for everyone just as antivirals and JOH do not work for everyone.
I tried JOH religiously for 6 months including the early morning alarm calls to take super sized Lysine pills on an empty stomach. And despite being a 15% er I do suspect a viral/immune cause to my MM. I also think that there is a MAV component at work for which I take Pizotifen. @Vicki – my point was to do with the different thinking about the effectiveness of Serc between the health care professionals on either side of the pond. A difference that I find hard to understand.
I agree with you yellow I just posted a new study supporting SERC as a treatment for MM, for some reason the FDA does not think it does anything for MM but they say it doesn't hurt so they allow us to get it by only through a compounding pharmacy. Maybe the USA based studies were unluckily done on people it does not help. I dunno
