I first encountered my meniere's at age 19. The vertigo fizzled after a couple of years and went into hiatus for about 10 years (except for the hearing loss, of course, which was permanent)...but thankfully I thought I was spared the vertigo.

However, it suddenly started cropping up again at age 29. I then got very serious about my doctor's recommended low salt diet, to no avail. After keeping a careful log of everything, I realized that caffeine might be a trigger, and I decided to cut it out of my diet. That was six months ago, and I have not had a single vertigo episode. I am not limiting salt, either. Just avoiding caffeine. I also seem to have less flucutating "fullness/pressure" in that ear.

I just wanted to share that as something to try. I am sure it is not a cure all or something that will work for everything. I still have the hearing loss. But I am so happy it has changed my life for the better!

Great news! Thanks for sharing. Caffeine is a trigger for me too.

Maybe I am talking out of my ass but I think I got this crap from a combination of stress at my job in New York and a diet that basically consisted of Diet Mt. Dew / Diet Dr. Pepper to keep me up and going. 16 hour Stress filled days with 6-8 diet sodas I am convinced put me over the edge.

Like you I'm only saying what has worked for me and cutting out caffeine was part of it. You might want to also try avoiding anything high in tyramine, alcohol, strong cheese, msg and soy sauce. I haven't had one day when I haven't been well since Aug 2009.

Very pleased that you have found some relief
