I agree with Vicki, I've rarely read a post from Bulldog that didn't make me smile! And some days that's the only thing I've had to smile about! So don't stop being you Bulldog....we need you!

Cannabis is gaining more acceptance as a medicine, but there continues to be strong lingering stereotypes and a great deal of misinformation associated with cannabis use. Thus, I stand by my point: Turning this thread into a Cheeh and Chong joke doesn't do anyone any favors.

One of the symptoms of meniere's is nausea from vertigo and from a loss of vestibular function. It's well established that cannabis alleviates nausea with few side effects. And cannabis is an anti-inflammatory, which may help meniere's also. Is cannabis a cure for meniere's? I don't think there is any proof of that. Not yet, anyhow.

There is a LOT to learn about medical cannabis, and turning to a regular GP for answers isn't likely to help much. Even in states where medical cannabis is legal. Very few physicians are trained about cannabis as a medicine.

When people come to this thread, I would hope that the information they get here would be honest and helpful. Seeing a bunch of stories about getting so stoned you can't tell your wife from your sister in law is not at all helpful. Funny? Yeah, your mileage may vary, but... OK ... sure. But not helpful in this thread.

This thread is not anymore serious than other threads in the living room and if people want to put a smile on our face no matter what thread, I welcome it.

A few pages back in this thread someone asked about how one should begin a conversation with their Dr about medical cannabis. This article http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/philippe-lucas/medical-cannabis-doctor_b_8313780.html from The Huffington Post is an excellent place to start.

And, it's final paragraph is especially pertinent to this thread:
"Honest conversations between doctors and patients are crucial in overcoming the barriers to real and effective healthcare solutions. It's time to replace the fear, stigma and misinformation too often associated with medical cannabis with science, reason and compassion."

Viki, if I remember correctly, you aren't a person who uses cannabis, medically or otherwise. So I am guessing you're not as sensitive to the social stigma that is associated with using medical cannabis. The jokes here were more like being laughed at, rather than laughing with. But, worse than that, they give an extremely inaccurate idea of cannabis use - medical or otherwise.

Sharing information about regulations regarding medical cannabis in Canada:
    http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/dhp-mps/marihuana/index-eng.php

It's interesting to note that Health Canada leaves the decision up to the patient and the patient's Dr. They don't appear to have any arcane lists of approved conditions.

I did a search for Meniere's and found nothing. Nausea, however, has lots of hits.

    Hey guys,

Although I had a bad experience the last time I tried this, I've been in so much pain with my gastric issues and unable to take anything for the pain, I tried again.
My menieres is staying under control which is amazing under these circumstances, too.

So...I tried again last night and I felt great! And it lasted for hours with just 4 hits from a vaporizer.
It didn't increase my appetite, however, so "munchies" don't hit everyone.

I'd say that any comments on this subject whether they be of the technical aspect or otherwise, should be welcome.
"Sighs" is just a cry for drama. Let it go.

If youve had the opportunity to read the old thread in the archives, and I have, you will see a general play of back and forth between humor and knowledge that had no adverse effect on the thread itself.

I myself participate in the other rooms available here and I find that it gets my mind off of my medical issues and increases my general well being.
I find humor a terrific way to lighten my load.

This doesn't take away from the importance of the medical aspect.

Very glad to hear it worked for you this time. :D

I'm sorry, I am really not trying to be a dramalama.

Does no one else here see the point I've been trying to make about the stigma of cannabis use?

I understand what you are saying but quite frankly I don't care about other people's view of cannibis for medical treatment or any other purpose. I know my thoughts on the subject and that really is all that matters. To thine own self be true. Peace.

talk about stigma, how many of us were accused of being drunk due to having Meniere's?

as redwing said who cares what others think. We do what we need to do feel better and IMO having a good chuckle is a big help in trying to cope.

I was doing so good and then the other day the brain fog returned with ear fullness and vertigo just hovering. I had some pot a friend gave me. I had left work early because I was not functional. I went home and lit up and within 15 minutes ALL THE SYMPTOMS WERE GONE!! I was astounded. I went to the MM doctor yesterday and got my care. I live in Arizona and Meniere's is a qualifying disease here in this state.

My opinion is that life is too short to worry about how someone else will interpret or come to less than optimum conclusions. Further, as so many people do not "get" Meniere's and the daily challenges we face with family, co-workers, friends etc to be able to come to this board and exchange ideas...and yes sarcasm/jokes....is refreshing.

The first time I had to be driven home by a co-worker while holding a barf bag - I stopped trying to worry about what other people could/would think.

That said...of course I would encourage people to remember what your state regulations are because it isn't legal everywhere. :)

I don't believe there's as much stigma as you think there is.

I know many people, maybe you'd call them, "baby boomers," that use marijuana recreationally.

    Lighten up

This is the first stormy day where the weather has not affected my menieres or brought any symptoms out.

    Daily usage or coincidence?
