Update. Thought today was over. MIL just called she was going to take Wednesday night pills told her no today is Tuesday. You have already taken your night pills. No more pills. The great thing is she called us before taking the pills!! Progress.
It's good that she remembered this time. As I've learned with my children, a day may never be over. Now, your parents are like your children and that's the way it goes.
It was another tough week with my MIL...she is having such a hard time with her pills. NO matter what we try to do to help her she just can't follow through, not her fault. I did call and set up an appointment with her PCP for a complete evaluation. Meanwhile the doc has taken her off night time medication because that seems to be the problem. She takes her morning pills and then around mid morning takes her 6:00 pm pills. Now that we have eliminated the evening pills she is much more relaxed and able to concentrate just on the morning dose. She calls us every morning to tell us she has taken the pills. I am somewhat anxious about her evaluation with the PCP. I am pretty sure I know what is going to be said at that meeting. It will be hard to hear but the reality is she is not going to get any better ..... just facing the facts.
I'm sorry. You think you know what to expect so anything you hear won't come as a shock. Maybe without the nighttime meds she will become more cognizant?? I know this is really hard for you. You're strong, you'll get through it. Thinking about you.
Leaving first thing in the morning for NSB to pick up my parents and bring them home to live out the rest of their years. It is a bittersweet journey. BD will have a chance for a burger and mai tai at the Breakers will be thinking of you.
Thanks Red, I wish I was there to pick up the tab for you during this bittersweet journey. A great burger and an even better little beach town. I brought mom home from Baltimore earlier this year and while it is bittersweet, I told her she had done her work and now it was time for me and my brother to take care of her. It will be rewarding because that is what God wants now from you!!! Stay strong my friend and don't be afraid to ask for another Mai Tai !!!!
