I have Express Scripts. They say that they carry the Mylan brand. Express Scripts said that if I contact my doctor and have the doctor request Northstar brand, they will fill it with Northstar. I am still in the process of seeing if this works. I'll let you know.
Hi folks, I've been on valtrex for about 5 days now and am amazed by the results. I'm clear as a bell now. I guess the virus hasn't had time to get a strong foothold and 5 days was enough to beat it back down. I'll keep reporting as time passes.
That's GREAT Scott! Muff I sent a message to my Dr telling her she has to resend the script requesting Northstar. I should hear back from her tomorrow.
Went to dr today and was precribed valacyclovir brand name northstar. I cannot shake the ear fullness and slightly worse dizziness. I have been on acyclovir since Jan this year and it has helped tremendously but when allergy season started some of symptoms started creeping slowly back.Scott Tom, i checked w my pharmacist today and asked how much Valtrex would be if insurance would not accept and it was $1431.00!!!! Unbelievable. Should have the valacyclovir tomorrow and i am looking forward to trying it.
Yeah, it's crazy expensive. However, I've been researching it and you should be able to get it for less than $100 if you have insurance. Even if the insurance company won't pay for it, they will usually negotiate you an "insurance rate". It's all part of the giant scam that is USA health care, but it does seem to work a lot of times.
Update: I believe that i'm feeling as good as i ever have. I did not think that i would improve this quickly or this much. I am only taking 1 a day for the past several days, and still seeing improvements.
I think that is fantastic and it was your story that made me go the valacyclovir way, i will definitely check into the Valtrex, i have some blood work planned this week so will be going back to my pcp, and will bring it up to her. I might have to change pharmacies but dont really care , whatever works.
Generic Valacyclovir is working for a lot of folks, but I'm convinced that Valtrex is better. Probably bc its quality controlled better.
I'm waiting for my Valcyclovir to be processed because I asked for North Star instead of Mylan. I hope I'm as lucky as you are! I'm so happy it's helping. Once you get to some form of normality, then lose it again, I think it's much worse. I remember who I used to be while in remission and I want me back. Tomorrow I'm calling express script to make sure that's progressing and when I receive it and how much it'll be. I can't imagine why it would be more than the acyclovir. My pharmacy acted like no on ever requested a manufacturer before.
I just found out from Walgreens that I don't need the doctor to request the name brand. My insurance company will cover it if I just request it. You might try calling your insurance company to see if they'll cover it as will.
BumbleBea, my valacyclovir is in at pharmacy so I am on way to pick it up, I hope for wonderful results! I am going to check with my insurance company re Valtrex also, but I change this year to medicare Part D, so I am wondering if it will be any different, I hope you can get yours asap. Let us know how you do.
Believe that as long as your pharmacy agrees, no issue with medical coverage. Believe the biggest "challenge" is finding the pharmacy that agrees to order it for you. My local Costco does for me - but my local Target would not.
I am so happy for you!! I'll keep everyone updated. I may start a thread with progress reports.,progress reports pleeease.
