I hadn’t had a dizzy episode for almost a year and a half. I recently had some dental work done - first week two crowns put in on the unaffected side - no problem. The next week I had one crown put in on the same side as the ear that I have issues with - that evening I had a major spin attack that lasted into the next morning. Went to see my neurologist and he seems to think that it was the drilling and the position of my head during the drilling that caused this latest episode. I would be inclined to agree with him. My question to you all is, has anyone had this happen. I have had relatively no tinnitus or fullness at all in the past month or so, so could this be BPPV? I appreciate any and all input as I still have two more teeth that need some work and I’m very anxious about this happening again.
My very last vertigo attack was in June of '18 and definitely caused by being in a dental chair that had my head much lower than my body. It was a cleaning where a new hygienist used a device to save herself the strain of just scraping the teeth. It was some sort of sonar cleaner(?) that made noise and was actually somewhat painful. I think the position of my body along with the noise and stress caused it. By the time I got out of the chair it was starting. Husband had to help me out to the truck. I guess I can't say if it was BPPV though so I am not much help am I. On a side note, my next visit in 6 months she was gone and my regular hygienist was back and said I didn't need to ever have my teeth cleaned that way as my teeth and gums were in good shape and the device was for heavy cleaning. So since then I haven't had to have my head so much lower for the cleanings.
