It is strange to me that what I believe is the most powerful investigation in the world on Meniere. It has never been posted on this forum. The links that I am going to put are in Spanish, but if you copy & paste them in google transalte will create a link with a translated version. And I recommend the effort because I think it is worth it.

When in February they told me that I almost certainly had Meniere in the emergency room of my medical center. I was desperate for help and hope (that's how I found meniere.org as well) and something I found that in that was this research that is carried out at the University of Granada (Spain), today I have calmly read everything and have searched for more things and I think you may be interested.

To begin with, you can read the CV of Dr. Jose Antonio: Dr. Jose Antonio López Escamez - Director Científico del ibs.GRANADA | ibs.GRANADA | Instituto de Investigación Biosanitaria de Granada who is the leader of the research, there you will see that they have a great academic and professional career, but also a first paragraph where he already explains what his research on genetics and Meniere and who finances her (among others, Meniere's Society), also draws attention that her research also examines "alterations of the immune system in disease." The latter seems very interesting to me because I have already read here and in recent medical publications that the theory with the most weight today is that Meniere is caused by an alteration of the immune system together with other environmental causes (viruses, allergies, etc.). What Dr. José is investigating is at the genetic level and could be a definitive cure in the future, but in the short-medium term the alteration of the immune system could be corrected with medication, probably here the immunologists would have a lot to say.

Then you can read this: OTOLOGIA Y OTONEUROLOGIA | Grupos de Investigación | ibs.GRANADA | Instituto de Investigación Biosanitaria de Granada

Here you can see the otology research department of Granada, a little explanation of what they are doing. If you go down you can see three tabs in which to see the names of the entire team of Dr. José (our heroes), but the most interesting table is the Investigations table where you can see all in which Dr. José has worked in the past as others that are still active and that hope to end in 2021 or 2022. Here you will see that there are several for tinnitus and for Meniere.

Finding this type of information is very difficult, not because it is hidden, but you never know where to look. And for me it is really encouraging to see that there is research of this importance.

On how to collaborate, I have asked my Meniere Association how to volunteer because they are looking for patients to sequence their DNA, isolated cases have a thousand, but only 100 multi-family cases. I am multi-family so if I can I will offer my DNA. I do not know how the process works, perhaps you can collaborate from abroad by sending the DNA sample, if someone REALLY wants to collaborate I can ask.

Another way to collaborate is with donations, my Meniere Association raised about $ 25,000 in 2019: https://www.huvn.es/noticias/invest...n-para-el-estudio-de-la-enfermedad-de-meniere

You can donate to ASMES, but as it is Spanish, perhaps the best thing is that you contact Ménière’s Society: The national charity for people with dizziness and balance disorders who can inform you in English if you can contribute something to this or future research.

Remember that the main problem that Meniere has no cure and its cause is not known is largely due to:
1- It is not contagious, fatal and is suffered by a minority (3-8% of the population depending on the country).
2- Therefore, there is no funding or great willingness from countries to find a cure soon.
3-The inner ear is very complex to examine, a biopsy cannot be done, etc.

Compare, especially the first two points, with the Covid that in just 6 months already has four vaccines being tested in humans. It's sad, but money is the gasoline to find a cure sooner.
