So, Lana, which of the remedies/treatments that are mentioned in this thread
To All the Recent Newbies (July 2021)
are you going to start with? Have you ordered this book yet?

Have you ordered the Liposomal Vitamin C yet?

Yes, you are in a bad spot and I sure don't envy you, BUT, you need to stop worrying about the future and start working toward improving it. There is no other way. You need to get to work and today would be a great day to start.

Thank you, Mary. I will check it out. I am so devastated and feel alone. I lot of people on this forum are talking about their significant other and I don't have that kind of support. I just don't know how I am going to survive this.

Lana, I believe Menieres is a very lonely disease and to a certain degree, we are all on our own. Yes some people may have a more supportive network of family and friends but when vertigo strikes, each of us has to suffer through it with eyes closed and head still. When the endless vomitting occurs, there's no one between us and the toilet. The tinnutis is especially lonesome. You cannot share a ringing that only exists in your brain.

So if you feel alone please know you are not alone in that feeling. And remember that many people are winning this battle and increasing their number of good days/weeks/months by finding what works for them. And this website is a great place to start.

    Best of health to you!

Thank you Teesdale for your kind words and for sharing your perspective with me. I understand your point about loneliness in this. However, I have another layer in all of this.
If I lose my job, I will lose everything as I am by myself. My parents are old and not sure how many years they have left. I have no other family or such friends that would provide support as a place to live. I am terrified of what the future is going to bring. I am still working but my symptoms are non stop for a month now. I always followed a good diet (no junk food alcohol or smoking). I am in perimenopause which can contribute to this. I can’t even look at myself in the mirror anymore. I feel terrible. Since I have it in both ears I just don't see how it will get better. I am talking to the therapist but don't see much help in it.

Lana, sorry for the typos in my previous post.

I have it in both ears as well, but fortunately so far it’s only affecting the hearing in my “good” ear and not the balance (no vertigo or dizziness). It can be so very hard and you feel cheated out of your life—as a fellow musician, I get that. But life does go on and you definitely can find pleasure and happiness in other things.

    You are not alone.

Thank you, Kevin. I am experiencing vertigo and nausea. For now, vertigo is mild but I can't eat anything and I am losing a lot of weight. I just don't see how to cope with this for the rest of my life.

Lana after reading all of your posts I hope you don’t take offense to what I am going to suggest. Because you feel you are alone with no support dealing with your symptoms I suggest you ask your PCP for a referral to a psychologist. My thought is a psychologist can help you sort through your fears. Or perhaps if you have a pastor with who you can share your fears. Anxiety will increase the symptoms you are experiencing. I believe with the support of a professional who deals with anxiety will help you find the answers to many of the questions you have. You have received some good advise from many on this board but your anxiety of what lies ahead is getting in your way. I offer my 2 cents with sincerity.

Thank you for your advice and I don't take offense at all. I do appreciate that a lot of members took time to read my post and offered their advice. I am taking to the therapist right now and will look into a psychologist. I don't have a pastor. I know I have said this in every post. I am feeling constant nausea (in addition to other symptoms )every day which is not going away and I am fully aware that it's just a matter of time before bigger things come. Yesterday I have experienced double vision while I was working. I am loosing weigh rapidly because of nausea.Today my 82-year-old father had to help me to carry groceries and my heart was broken.I don't see the pleasure in anything anymore and don't know how I am going to continue.

Lana you are stronger than you think you are. Take one day at a time. Read the book you have/ are going to order Heal your Headache and start reading it as soon as you get it. Stress and anxiety is going to make everything worse. Pop in to this forum if you need to talk to someone. You are not alone.

Lana, you can also adopt the belief that it's just a matter of time before better things come.

    Hang in there.

Thank you, Teesdale for responding. It's hard when I know that is not the case. I don't know how to go from here. Nothing makes sense anymore. I feel that I have no more future and that I am going to be isolated for the rest of my life. I can't imagine life like that.

Hi Lana your life is not over. I don't know why some people are challenged by nasty illnesses like menieres but there is a lot worse and the graveyards and hospitals are full. IMO a change of thinking is necessary. You would no doubt get around to realising that, so it is best to start now. You need to meet this challenge head on with the knowledge that a great many people either beat this disease or learn to adjust. Research is the one of the keys for you as is trial and error to find out what works best for you. From personal experience Doctors and Specialists will not give you the answers that you need. There is so much experience and knowledge on this forum that I think you will find your answer right here.

Just briefly I was diagnosed with menieres but through research and trial and error it become obvious to me that I had Migraine associated vertigo (MAV) . By the way you do not have to migraines to suffer from MAV. There are quite a few tips I could pass on but I think it is worth looking at diet as a route to success and a medication called SERC. I am from the uk and the go to medication is SERC (Betahistine) If you are not from the uk and from the usa chemists can make up a serc compound for you. Serc is a preventative and takes a couple of weeks to kick in. If you want to try the diet route best purchasing Heal your Headache by David Buchholz in which he outlines diet but also explains that you don't need to have a headache to suffer from MAV. You will get all sorts of suggestions from the very nice people on this forum. Whatever you do take the suggestions one by one as trying more than one suggestion will only muddy the waters and you wont know which one works. That certainly is the case with an elimination diet. I started with egg on toast for every meal and added one food at at time thereby eliminating the triggers. I was sick along the way having over 150 episodes in 3 years of rotational vertigo and 6 six hour vomiting sessions. That was 2005 to 2008 and I believe stress caused shingles which caused all the rest of the problems.

From 2008 I haven't drunk alcohol, had no caffeine, MSG, aged cheese or anything high in tyramine and I have been fine. I visit this forum maybe twice a year and comment maybe once as I am fine and live a normal life. I am deaf in my left ear as a result of all the episodes years ago but that's ok. Don't worry about finding or keeping a partner as that will happen naturally if they have anything about them. Best of luck. Wishing you well. Frank

Thank you, Frank. I appreciate your detailed and candid response. I live in the US and am not sure how I would be able to obtain the medication you have mentioned. It is not possible to ask the pharmacist to make something on demand. I have always followed a good diet (no alcohol, MSG, or smoking). As I am typing this I have a feeling as if something is crawling out of my left ear while my right ear has to laud tinnitus. I feel a light pressure on my forehead. I had the audio test done on 11/30 and my hearing was fine. Since then the tinnitus in my right ear became constant but ENT does not want to do another audio test.

    Lana,

Since you do not have hearing loss, strongly consider Frank's advice on MAV.
I am praying for you. Be strong, you can get through this.

    Jim
