Well, I am sitting in my car at work waiting for my husband to come get me. Every time I try to move my head everything starts spinning. I felt like i was going to fall out of my chair at work. I told them Inthought I was about to get vertigo and had to leave. It was embarrassing stumbling out the door. One of my coworkers walked me out. Now i am stuck looking down... every time I try to look up or to the side everything spins. It's only been a few weeks since my first vertigo experience. I'm scared of the future.

RedBird, if you're suffering from BPPV, and it sounds like you are, it is very treatable. As onehorse stated, there is a maneuver that can end the vertigo from BPPV. I'm sure it can be performed by your ENT. My GP even knows how to do it. If you were having vertigo from Meniere's, it wouldn't stop with head movement or by holding your head in a certain position.

I'm just checking in here for the first time in a while and seeing this thread. Vertigo is so awful. Your stories all sound very familiar to me. I have had MAV and BPPV, too, in addition to MM. The good news is that the MAV and BPPV vertigo is easier to address more directly than the MM vertigo.

For the BPPV you want to do the Epley Maneuver. It is good to start with having a professional help you because you want to make absolutely sure you are doing it for the correct ear. Have the doctor recommend a physical therapist and find one that is trained in this area. Afterwards, you can learn the at-home Epley maneuver. I have used that and stopped vertigo episodes.

For MAV you need to identify what is triggering you, and address it. As we, especially we women, age new triggers can come up. For me eyestrain was a big issue, and I needed reading glasses and computer glasses. Also as I am getting into menopause I'm having both the MAV and the headaches, sometimes the visual auras and light sensitivity too. The headaches coincide with my menstrual cycle. Acupuncture has been amazingly helpful for me in eliminating the headaches.

    Good wishes!

Thank you, both. This episode was different than my last. Last time I was sweating, had chills, very nauseous and felt worse lying down. This time I had no sweating, chills or nausea but felt worse while standing or sitting. Lying down I feel better.

I actually did have roatational vertigo one other time, about 3 years before my ear symptoms started. I never associated that time with my current condition but I suppose it atually could be related. That may have been BPPV looking back. I never went to the doctor for it then.

My BPPV comes back every once in a while. I can discern the difference from other vertigo because of the positional aspect. Now when it happens I just do the at-home Epley Maneuver, and it's gone. I wish all vertigo was so easy to address.

Usually when I have vertigo I feel best laying on my side, but sometimes walking around helps. It helps most when I use a walking stick so my body gets more information about where I am in space.

It's hard to sort out when so many factors are involved, but I think you have some good leads, and you will. Rah, rah, rah to you!

So just like after the vertigo episode I had last month, my hearing is now better. The interesting thing is that the first bout of vertigo I was worse lying down and "better" when standing up, the rotational vertigo turned into dizziness. But this second time I felt "better" lying down and the rotational vertigo started while standing or sitting. That's odd to me. I'm guessing every time is different?
