Does prednisone negate low sodium? How do I start diuretic while tapering off?

I've been on prednisone for the past 8 days, and today I've been feeling that maybe indeed my vestibular issue may be hydrops related, even though I haven't presented with traditional/typical Meniere's. So I figured I'd try a low salt diet and eventually try the diuretic one doctor gave me. But how would I switch from one to the other? Some sources are saying that you do not want to take diamox and prednisone at the same time

I'm confused as to what prednisone does exactly. They say steroids make you retain water, but somehow also it reduces hydrops and congestive heart failure issues (not that I have that, just another example) ? So does it make you lose water or gain water? How can it help if you retain water and sodium, and Meniere's is supposedly caused by too much swelling of the endolymph?

I figure towards the end of the prednisone taper is when i should start taking the diamox?
