Hello, I have bilateral cochlear MD diagnosed in 2014. In 2020 I had a series of 3 intratympanic injections that worked great in my L ear- had No episodes for about 2.5 years. Just recently had a flare up in my R ear of the usual cochlear MD symptoms that were in a fluctuating pattern. Two weeks ago I got the first of 3 injections in my R ear and immediately following the injection my ear clogged and two weeks later it is still clogged. This kind of clog doesn't feel like MD fullness, more like ETD though I also have some pressure and tinnitus. My hearing is normal and there is no fluid in my ear. A couple of times I have done saline rinses and when blowing my nose it has popped clear but then always clogs again within minutes or hours. My doctor (not the same one that did the original injections in 2020) claims this is normal and due to the hole or the effects of phenol but I have scoured the research and find nothing that says this is normal or a related symptom to the injection or the hole or phenol. I also did not experience this in 2020 with my first set of injections. I don't understand this and am fearful that something was damaged by the injection and that this is my new normal. Has anyone experienced this? Thanks for your help.
Have you had it checked out for debris in the ear? I had a course of intratympanal steroid injections recently and my ear canal got blocked with debris from scabbing. At the third injection, the consultant cleared it all out again with micro suction and it has been fine since then
