So I was on predisone for a week and it helped the ear pain and pressure and ringing SO much. I've been off of it about 5 days. I woke up this morning with ringing, pressure and pain.
Now yesterday was exceptionally stressful at work as yet another department head quit and our mayor came by to talk to us about that. (he is actually not supposed to do what he did). AND he was good enough to tell all of us that a guy that was fired from here (for breach of trust) a few years ago that was abusive to the employees has put in his application for the first open position (not the one from yesterday). That guy will fire everyone, me first because I won't break the law. happy day.

I don't know what to do. I cant afford to get sick again and lose my job. I also just started this job and don't have enough sick time to handle much more.

Do I go back to the ENT and ask for the steroid shot in the worse ear? Do I ask for another round of predinizone? This stresses me as much as the crazy crap at work.

I really need some options here.

I just don't know what to do.

While I don't know your specifics, I can attest to the power of stress in initiation symptom flares. This is true for me and for others I have read on this forum. You need to get your stress under control one way or another. Like you, prednisone provided no lasting relief for me. It actually provided no relief of my MM symptoms. I also had no luck with diuretics.

Initially, it took 2 weeks of low sodium diet to improve my condition. I cut myself back to a max of 500mg per day. This improved my condition, but I still experienced cycling flares. Continued low sodium(now I try to stay below 1500mg) and JOH seems to be lessening my flare-ups in duration and strength.

One common denominator seems to be the variety of causes and the fact that their is no quick fix. From what I have read here and elsewhere, many experience relief with antivirals, especially valacyclovir. I have yet to try the AV's, but a number of folks here have had success.

Good luck and get to work on the stress. You need to get that under control.

Do you think you can change the way you react to this situation ? It is not the situation, it is your reaction taking the toll.

Instead of asking whether you deserve a better job situation, can you ask if you deserve less stress and then change your way of taking the bait every time someone throws out a possible threat to your job? I know it seems hard but i believe if you start practicing changing your reaction, you will become good at it and it will make you poserful.
