Vicki, you're right, bullying is not cool at all. Especially from adults.

June, nobody is saying that the people who care for the sick are "bad" people.

BD,see that's what I meant when I said this guy went bowling, etc. Being in environments where he maybe sweat and touched a surface others would come in contact with. Him being a "professional" and all that, and knowing what precautions should be taken.

What we are saying is that there has to be a way to contain the chance of this disease being brought to the U.S. or anywhere and spreading it to other innocent people. If a child has contracted it, it will be interesting to see where and how they came into contact with it.
Were it a child in a school where my child went, I would not be sending my child back.

Keep in mind that we don't know much about this disease. Everyday something new is being reported. Keeping your family and loved ones safe should be your first priority. It's mine.

Vicki, yes prayers are in order.

If he was in school while the vomiting and diarrhea occurred, I bet the other parents are freaking out.

This makes no sense at all.

Junk food, beer, wine ect... is a personal choice to eat and in moderation nothing will kill you. It is me voluntarily putting ice cream and cookies in my mouth.
Besides, I can eat some junk food have a beer and not die the next day, I can stop eating it whenever I want.

There is no Ebola in moderation!

And Yes, the gov't does protect people from guns, they are banned in all gov't buildings, planes, sporting events, bars in NYC and many other places.

I just love how the military is not allowed back in US --- they are quarantined for 21 days and yet we allow irresponsible health care workers who threaten law suits to with fevers returning from WA to roam freely.

Bea--- the reason nobody responded is because you are right.

I don't see any correlation between gun control and junk food and a disease, period.
That you do, is in my opinion, WEIRD.

We are openly discussing Ebola. The consequences of allowing people to travel when they may have been exposed and passing it to others. Not a lot is known about this disease. What is known is that if a person contracts it there is a chance of spreading it and a chance of death.
How do we control that to the best of our ability and keep the public safe?
You're not going to die if you own a gun or a eat a bag of potato chips.

I agree Bea the connection of those things with ebola is quite far fetched, but if someone wants a govt to dictate what they can eat and drink, then best go to a country where your freedoms are limited.

    Vicki Guest

You are mixing apples with oranges. The constitution states the govt is supposed to secure our liberties, not take them away. Taking away our freedoms is unconstitutional.
There is nothing in our constitution that gives the gov't the power or right to dictate what we eat or drink.

    Vicki Guest

and there is no discussion about those things because most people do not want govt over stepping their bounds and limiting our freedoms that are granted to us by the constitution. The govt by law is supposed to keep keep America safe and free ..not dictate.

    Faded,

I would respond I your bait but I am just too busy roflmao eating a few chips and drinking a beer helping my 6 year old with his math homework.

Somehow I just knew somebody would come along and make this a political thread about sodas, chips beer and guns and compare it to the deadly Ebola virus. It's laughable!

With that being said I just read that over 10,000.00 people died eating brocali, apples and chicken, maybe we should ban those to.

    Or

I just read 1000,000 people drowned this summer in the ocean, maybe we should tell people they can't swim in pools, lakes and oceans.

With that, this is my last post on this topic.

Have a geeat night and the rest of your life for anybody reading beyond this point.

Back to my chips and 2nd Corona beer.

Here is an interesting article about the disease and where the path to surviving the disease may lie. For it to work on a large scale, we will need ties to those who have had the disease wherever they may be.

interesting article but it ended on a less upbeat note. Maybe a vaccine can be developed using the same info.

Either way, if we are to find a cure, a treatment, a vaccine, then we have to deal with people who have had the disease. We will need people to go there and do that. We have to be smart about it. Not reckless and not chicken little. We need people with notebooks more than people with bull horns.

Just heard someone in the administration leaked that the administration is planning on bringing non USA ebola patients to the USA to be treated. :(

But yet they say they need to treat it in WA so no travel ban and not to quarantine here to deter doctors from going there.

    Double Talk as usual.

Let's not turn this into a debate or a political agenda.
This thread is about Ebola and only that.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions on the subject but let's try to keep it in prospective.
We are not trying to compare the handling of Ebola with other government restrictions, etc.
Let's try to keep it in perspective.

BD, you started this thread. If you walk away now because of others ignorance...
I will sneak in your back door, creep down to the basement/man cave, tie you up, and beat you silly! ( sorry if you thought I was going somewhere else with that!)
I mean it, don't you dare walk away. ;)

Rose, I have a question for you.
In previous posts you said you lived in Canada.
Yet now your postings say things like, "our Govt," it seems like you're referring to the USA.
    So where do you live?
I'm not trying to get personnel, just trying to figure out if I misunderstood.
    :)

ahh that would explain why she doesn't understand our constitution and what rights and freedoms it gives us and what our govt should and shouldn't get involved in.

Yea, maybe we are confused, I thought she lived in Canada/ Alberta in previous posts but here she infers she is a USA citizen by using the word US.

Maybe this is a misunderstanding and if it is, Vicki you at be right. She may not understand our constitution.

No harm done, no offense taken.

Keep the peace, this is an important issue.

Well, I haven't even seen the news today. I cannot wait to see what is reported this evening.
I did hear that 3 other states were following Governor Cuomo and Governor Christie's protocols.

"Some people say we're being over protective. In a situation like this, it pays to be over protective."

    Governor Cuomo

Those statements pretty much sum it up nicely for me.
