Hi, I am new to this board. I had 4 Menieres events in the past 8 weeks, the last being the worst. It was only then that I searched out medical help and they told me I had Menieres. Before that I blamed it on lack of sleep and over work. Is there ANYTHING I can do the next time I feel it coming on to either stop it or lessen the effects? I have my own business and I cannot stay home for 2 days until it passes. The last event was from 3:00am Sunday night until 8pm Tuesday night, and still today I am a little dizzy. I would GREATLY appreciate any info or suggestions from those of you who had this problem longer then me and who might know ways t deal with it. Thanks, Paul
Hi! I'm still pretty new myself but wanted to say welcome to the forum. There is a ton of info here and lots and lots of great people to get advice from. Read through everything you can here. The database has some good info. Welcome and hope you find some help here.
Paul, first make sure to go and have a doctor run the different tests that can rule out any other cause than Meniere's. If Meniere's, for me stress is a MAJOR trigger - so trying to control that is key. Also, I have a prescription for Ativan that I take if the room starts spinning. It is highly addictive so to be used with caution. For me the Ativan placed under the tongue shortens my attacks to 2 hrs or less vs 6+. A lot of people, not all, find relief with antivirals. the sooner they are started the more likely to be effective and more likely to prevent hearing loss.
