I agree with Please NoDizzy and I love her comment "small potatoes" so true! I had lost my hearing in my menieres ear so having the laby was a pretty easy decision for me. My life is great. I can do everything I did before menieres entered my life I can walk a straight line and ride a bike and drive my car. You will have to deal with figuring out where sound is coming from but if you are 100% deaf in your bad ear you probably know what I am talking about. I wish you the best and look forward to reading about your upcoming journey.
Had my laby cancelled because of concerns around a blood clotting deficiency (Factor 11). Hematologist cleared me for surgery (with a compensation plan in place) but the surgeon was still hesitant. He said that since the gentamicin had apparently reduced vestibular function on my left side from 35% to just over 5% that it may be worth doing Vestibular Rehab Therapy again, prior to a surgery with greater-than-normal risk. So, instead of the laby, I am going to do at least 1 month of VRT. I remember reading a few posts on this forum in which people said that it really helped their dizziness and brain fog...the two things really causing me a problem right now. The fact that there was such a significant reduction in vestibular function (based on VNG tests) with no corresponding improvement in dizziness or brain fog makes me skeptical about whether destroying the remaining 5% will have a significant impact. I am very, very hopeful that the VRT has a profound effect and will of course update the board with my experience. The only thing that frustrates me is that I could have been doing these exercises for literally months now, but the surgeon who did my gent injections never mentioned it, nor did the surgeon who was going to perform the laby.
