I was on Valtrex for a few days when I had shingles a couple months ago and I wonder what most people like best?

    Thank you!

Just got prescribed generic Valtrex. So excited to start this regimen. My doctor was very positive and thinks it might really do the trick.

I am also off caffeine, sugar and am lowering my salt intake.

Thanks for this board and the help we find here.

The doctor also gave me a B12 shot and we did a Genova food allergy blood test.

I did great with acyclovir. Just try to get a hefty enough dose of whichever. If you do use acyclovir, sprea d it evenly throughout thr day in 5 doses.

That's great to hear! Just make sure they don't give you Mylan manufacturer. There have been hundreds of reports that it doesn't work like the others.

I also recieved my shipment of the entire JOH regimen and am planning to do the Lysine in addition to the anti-viral. Can't hurt, right?
I am so excited to finally find something that WILL work! I am thinking positive!

You SHOULD do lysine with the AVs. Take 1000 mg 3x per day on an empty stomach. It will not work if you take it with food.

    thanks Scott

How can I tell if the valacyclovir (1GM that I am on 3 times per day) was manufactured by Mylan? I don't see it anywhere on the paperwork.

    Thanks for your help.

The bottle should tell you. Or the pharmacist will know. I always ask the pharmacist before i order it. They will tell you who they deal with.

People seem to do best with the brand name or the generic brand Northstar, if it helps to know.

Good wishes! All this stuff has helped me, and I hope it does you.

I just called my CVS and they told me that it would be 700 per month for the brand name...could this be accurate?
    30 pills?

I am feeling dizzyish on the valacyclovir (not like a Meniere's full blown dizzy attack but just a bit off. Will this go away over a bit more time?

I am on 1GM 3 times per day.

    Thanks!

Yes, that's pretty much the case. It's expensive.

To be honest, my suggestion would be to get Famvir. No complaints from anyone about the generics.

It is quite common to get worse before it gets better. This is actually a good sign, as it means the virus is fighting back. Keep pounding it. And take 1000 mg of Lysine 3x per day on an empty stomach. That's the whole barrel.

I haven't heard any complaints about those, and i used Aurobindo successfully before being switched to Mylan without my knowledge.

But as i said above, it might be best to switch to Famvir generics. No complaints from anyone about that.

Thank you! I can certainly put up with a bit of dizziness if I know this is common, so thanks for the help! I will "keep on keeping on".
