I need to learn how to make kefir. it seems so complicated. getting a good starter seems to be key.

It's already hot here so it's going to be treadmill running later on.

I find motivation to work out my bi & lats when placing a small but intense fire beneath a chin up bar. If you don't find yourself standing atop of the bar, you'll be sure to complete many reps with minimal effort.

Those are very challenging for most women but a great upper body workout. I think anything but dips and curls are great for arms.

I find when I start an exercise routine (example using my treadmill) I end up getting sick and my MM would get worse. I am not sure why this happens to me. But I did start light weight lifting with 3 pound hand weights recently. I need to get back some bone density. Now that I have been On antivirals for over a year I might try the treadmill again, but kind of scared too given how my body responds from it all the years.

Is it grains as in gluten grains and milk as in dairy milk? I don't consume either. I think that's what's stopping me. Although, I did read on the old forum that I can use coconut water instead and gluten free grains. I need to find out where I can get them.

After trying many things that I can't do anymore, I have started to do the treadmill. I don't get dizzy and I can do a pretty good work out. I also walk and do yoga. So far so good but I have a long way to go.

After spending two months doing yoga, biking and walking on the beach I am back in NH and back at the local YMCA. I did a great job in terms of cardio and yoga while I was away. What I lacked was upper strength workouts (except for what I do in yoga). I started back weight training this week. OH MY, how my upper arms, biceps, triceps, shoulders are screaming at me. Must put this is my memory bank for next year, DO NOT FORGO YOUR UPPER BODY WORKOUTS!!! You will pay the price (and I am). But better days ahead just have to get a couple of sessions behind me.

So how is the training going for the half marathon my friend? How is your piriformis?

My piriformis is much, much better. The problem was with my hip flexor. That is what was causing quad pain and pulling my glute too. I started to a really good stretch and it's helped tons.

It got very hot, very quickly here so after 11 miles, I abandoned training. Will pick it up in the fall when temps are cooler. I can't run that many miles on a treadmill; it drives me insane and running in the heat (even early morning) sets off my symptoms.

I'm back to just weights, short sprints and 3 to 4 mile runs indoors. For the summer that will be good.

Upper body workouts are so necessary for us women since we seem to lack strength in that area. Strengthening the scapular area helped so much with a reduction in neck pain and also posture, which seems to trigger attacks in those of us susceptible to cervicogenic vertigo.

Today was upper body day at the gym, sprints and abs. Sore but energized.

I love this thread! I love to read about people working toward their health from a fitness perspective. Good job all of you!

Long day. Work was challenging. An appointment after work even more challenging. I came home and just wanted to get in my sweats and throw myself on the couch from tiredness.

Instead, I got into my running gear and went on a 3 mile run. The first 5 minutes I seriously wanted to quit and go home. Then I got into it and forgot I was running. All the tension and stress melted away and before I knew it, I was done. Our mind can be our ally or our enemy. I am so glad I just did it.

redwing....no hip flexor or piriformis pain today! Run was easy peasy. Maybe I will add more miles on Sunday but don't want to push it.

After everyone left, I asked husband to walk with me. We took the dog, too. Walked around one full block which is three times what I would normally do. I really wanted a nap, but I've been inspired!

I always tell people 95% of the challenge is putting on your workout clothes and getting to the gym, or getting out on the road!! You did great by making yourself go for that run. How did you do on Sunday? Don't add too many miles, if you are doing 3 comfortably then the next time out just add another 1/2 mile to a mile. Slow and steady my friend will keep you in good shape!

I had a great day, worked in my yard for about 2 hours then hopped on my bike for a 20 mile ride. It was not an easy one. After riding my bike on the beaches for 2 months it is tough to come back and ride on the hills of NH. What a challenge, but I did it. Feeling tired but accomplished.

Glad to hear your "piroformis" is under control, that can be a real bugger to get rid of. Keep up the good work, mentally and physically.

You're my inspiration! I won't quit unless i can't get off the ground for some reason! I did get to 3.5 with no issues. Working on really strengthening those glutes with barbell squats so they prop me up well. I'm taking it easy with running and working more on strength for the summer. It's too hot anyway.

I bet NH is so beautiful right now. 20 miles is a long ride. That's awesome. How long does it take you? Are you the one who did triathlons?

Yes I did do triathlons. So much fun. Swim, Bike, Run!! Today our ride took us 2 hours ( the "us" is me and my husband, he is my very best friend). The ride had major hills so figure that in when you think about 2 hours. There are no flat rides where we live. NH is beyond beautiful this time of year. Actually from now until the end of October. Come visit me and I will show you what I am talking about. Do you bike? It is great cross training. Especially for days when it it too hot to run. Think about it.

Man, you must have some awesome quads! It's mostly flat where I live and if I want hills I have to drive to them or get on a treadmill and use the hill setting :D

Two hours is a great timing for a long ride. Yes I bike but I don't swim. I am planning on taking swim classes this summer. I have to get over my fear of it.

I would LOVE to come hang out with you!

I do have awesome quads and they are screaming at me this morning for putting them through a tough workout yesterday!! This morning is my spin class so I went and worked them out again. They have been very good to me. Did I ever mention to you that they ran me up Mount Washington? One of the best races because there is only ONE HILL ;)

Since I ran late yesterday evening I slept in until time to come to work today. But I will hit the gym at 5pm and do weights.
