Hi there. Diagnosed with Cochlear Hydrops over a year ago. I have attacks every two weeks or so of loud tinnitus, temporary hearing loss and sound sensitivity. The attacks last for a few days at a time. Does anyone have success in stopping the CH attacks with Aciclovir ? If so, please can you indicate what dosage levels you took and for how long. Thanks for your help

I am currently on 2,400mg of acyclovir for cochlear hydrops (800mg pill, 3x/day). if I try to cut back to 2x/day (1,600mg) I relapse so I think at least 2,000mg/day is my maintenance dose. I plan to stay at this dosage as long as it keeps working. Good luck.

Yes, i had success with acyclovir. I think i took 400 mg 5 times a day for several months. It was stressed to me that with acyclovir it is important to spread it evenly throughout the day because it does not persist in the same way that valtrex and famvir do. It really helped my distortion and tinnitus and balance issues. Some other hearing upissues like fullness and hearing loss seemed to be helped by allergy treatment. It takes a while though for the healing to take place.
