Has anyone else seen an increase in MM symptoms after starting blood pressure meds? In my case I have been operating with slightly elevated BP for years. Normally kept in check with exercise. Lately it has been reading higher than normal so I started the medications. First it was Beta Blockers but after developing acute onset of psoriasis I had to stop and now I'm on ACE inhibitors. I believe the beta blockers slow your heart and the ACE inhibitors expand your blood vessels. In either case it would seem to have some impact on Menieres since the blood flow throughout your body (including your ears) changes. I was symptom free for 15 months after getting on the Northstar brand antiviral valacylolvir. I had a severe vertigo attack last month BEFORE going on the blood pressure medication. I quickly upped my dosage of the A/V back to 3000mg per day but I still feel lousy and am having mini-vertigo attacks almost daily. I started the BP meds a couple weeks ago and I am wondering if it is playing a role. Any input is greatly appreciated.
What you are describing sounds like systemic Candida, Candida overgrowth. To be sure, viruses and bacteria are involved as well. I'm not a doctor, just a citizen-scientist who has studied the research on this for the last nine years. The two most likely causes are poor gut health (intestinal dysbiosis aka gut imbalance aka leaky gut) or stealth dental infections. There are other causes (tick borne, std, lungs), but those are the two most likely avenues of infection. If you have a doctor in your area that treats Candida overgrowth and/or leaky gut, have yourself evaluated. Additionally, if you have ever had a root canal, or bleeding gums, or gingivitis, or periodontal disease, you're at risk of having 'stealth' infections around the root of your teeth, known as apical infections. In fact, you can get apical infections if you've never had a cavity if you wore braces or had a mouth injury. Some people here have success on anti-virals, some on anti-fungals. IMHO, i'd take both. Additionally, move to a low carb diet (google Candida diet or Alkaline diet). I will add that, for me, nothing really has helped the hearing or tinnitus, but the vertigo is controllable as is the brain fog and many other symptoms. Most people with MM also have other issues such as diabetes, clogged arteries, dementia/alzheimer's, skin disorders, depression, gout, arthritis, et al, and they're all tied together.
