Good evening everyone, Perhaps I am jumping the gun by self-diagnosing myself, but my symptoms certainly align most with Meniere's. I'm grasping at everything I can find to gain more information. Since my vertigo attack, I've had aural fullness, but it changes constantly. It changes intensity, it changes ears, and it does it multiple times throughout the day. Does anyone else experience this high of frequency of fluctuation? Thanks for sharing! Aaron
Yes, there are fluctuations, especially after an attack and during recovery. After a major attack my hearing in the right ear goes completely out, and then comes back everyday, sometimes twice. Crazy tinnitus with many different tones the whole time. My balance also fluctuates. By week 2 things start to settle down. I write everything down everyday so when the next attack comes I'm not so stressed out and know what to expect. I'm well into recovery now from a major attack, and I still get some set-backs. From my notes I know it takes 2 months to really settle down with almost all hearing and balance back. 4 months and I'm 100%. It is a slow healing process, and I treat it like my inner ear has been in a major car wreck and in intensive care those first few weeks.
I should add a little more detail, for me at least, the first few days are the worst. By the end of the week I can hear about 50-60% of normal and my balance is better. By the end of the second week I still have some fluctuation but not too bad and can hear 70-80% of normal. This is on either Prednisone or anti-virals.
Mine is constant since April 2025. Before that I had about 4 episodes a year lasting 8-14 days each, since I started getting affected in 2019. Menieres was diagnosed in 2020 by ENT.
