This is all beginning to make a horrible sense to me. I developed two conditions related to HSV at the same time. BFS and Menieres. Now I just have to find someone to write a Valtrex script. If this works I feel like my case may even be clinically significant in support of this theory. I was exposed to hsv 2, but didn’t think I caught it. Indeed, I already had hsv-1 so transference isn’t necessary and that may have been coincidence. I tend naturally toward hypochondria. Four years ago I started twitching for no descernible reason. I googled it because I’m an idiot. First thing I saw was ALS. Had some fun fretting about that. I obviously did not have ALS. But then I had my first vertigo attack. HSV = BFS = Menieres. I am floored right now. Terrified and stunned and worried I waited too long. My ear even twitches internally sometimes. I’m a little frantic and made too many posts. Sorry for blowing up the site with my rambling. I have suddenly strong reason to believe antivirals may help me.
This is TMI, but I’ll be damned if it isn’t recorded as supportive evidence. I used to twitch after orgasm. Like small body fasciculations. Tiny muscle contractions. Still do. I also get episodes of intense ringing for a few seconds. My hearing nerve is twitching. I get this at other times as well, but notably then. I have some kind of systemic herpes. I’ll update after Valtrex script — whenever that gets here.
I had a very bad case of cmv mono (herpes 5) about nine months before the cochlear hydrops. My family dr always suspected a relationship. Since the hydrops, i have also gotten epstein bar mono (human herpes 4). I have also had shingles (reoccurrence of chicken pox, hhv 3) despite having a shingles shot. The labwork told the doctors that this was a first occurrence of the cmv and eb which they said at my age was very unlikely so maybe i am losing my immunity to herpes viruses? Since my hydrops responded to antivirals, i suspect something is going on there in my case.
