Hello Menierians, Please allow me to introduce myself, I am a long term member of the meniere's club with my wife first contracting the disease 9 years ago and myself in March of 2013. Diagnosed with Endolymphatic Hydrops, Hyperacusis accompanied by Tullio phenomenon to make life easier lol Spouse of a long term member of your club and now subject, I now have a decent perspective of the complications/issues and decent treatment programs that are available due to the forced immersion into this. My wife and best friend of over 17 years has been a champion in our area to bring education and improved treatments for Meniere's patients. This has given me the strength to try treatments some might consider risky or irrelevant but I assure you nothing feels irrelevant when you're spinning out of control, and there is a possibility a treatment may reduce this. Although I am only three years in, the lessons learned through my wife's treatments has reduced mine by at least half. Thank-you all for your help in her learning as she has become my best teacher and the subject matter expert for Eastern Ontario due to this fantastic group of like minded people! Although I am new here, I see so many names that are familiar from the years of reading my wifes posts and responses that I feel as if I have been here for years : ) My question to the experienced members is this: Has anyone had the experience of having intrepanic injections of steroids accompanied by antiviral treatment? If so, what were your results and protocol? Thank-you !!
I have had the steroid injections which helped but it wasn't long lasting and required multiple visits to the Dr every month. I have not had them while on Antivirals, however. It's good to see you posting. You are optimistic and we need that here. Who is your wife if I may be so bold?
Welcome Artiszan! I've haven't done steroid injections, but am stopping by to say welcome and wow about you and your wife both having Meniere's. The odds of that must be quite low. It must be interesting to see if there are times when both your symptoms increase at once, like with weather and allergens. Though I sure don't wish on you to both have them at once. Best wishes!
You brought up a very good point. Have you guys experienced attacks at the same time because of the weather and the rest. It's an unusual situation for a married couple to both have Menieres. I'm wondering what the information you provide here will show either differences or the same experiences.
Welcome. I am also in Eastern Ontario. I have been having steroid injections while on Valtrex the past 2 months. I am still having attacks, but not as severe. The last 2 days have not been good with attacks both days.
