I decided to start purchasing and taking the supplements recommended by John of Ohio. I did ask my Dr for Acyclovir, and sent him the information. He turned me down, saying he needed to do more research on it. Anyway, about two weeks ago, I started taking Lysine, Lemon Bioflavonoids, increased B-12, and the sustained release Vitamin C. Just yesterday I added the Vinpocetine, Ginkgo, Vitamin E, and MSM. Fall is usually a bad time for me, with increased episodes of aural fullness, followed by vertigo spells that typically make me end up in the bed, and most recently, suffering projectile vomiting.

So last Saturday, I was nervous about going to the college football game we'd managed to score tickets to. It was 75 miles away, and a good hike from the car to the stadium. My ear had been clogged all day Friday, so I figured an attack was imminent. Funny thing though, as we were walking around campus, my ear suddenly opened up. With NO ill effects. At. All. I was amazed and was thanking my lucky stars. Something else was that I felt fine all day Sunday, just tired. But when I woke up Monday morning, I felt like I'd had a serious drunk the night before and stayed up all night: hungover and really tired.

Yesterday, also Saturday, again, my ear began stopping up on Friday, stopped up all day Saturday. We were invited to watch a football game at a friend's house on Saturday evening. So about 4 pm, my ear opens up. I get mildly dizzy and am able to go to the party without taking any medication at all. Within about 2 hours, i felt absolutely great. Today, Sunday, I've felt just fine all day.

So, it certainly may all just be coincidental. I don't know. Maybe it's the vitamins and supplements, maybe it's a changing stage of the disease (I also have an Acoustic Neuroma, as well as MD). But I can take it, no matter what the cause.

Users of the regimen should be aware of two things. Symptomatic relief seldom comes immediately or early after starting the regimen (it can take weeks or several months), and symptoms often get worse for a time when starting the regimen. This happens, too, with antiherpetic drugs. The herpes virus in the inner ear appears to react to either the regimen or to antiherpetic drugs by increasing viral replication and activity, causing worse symptoms at the start. But when this happens, it's best to persist, as the virus sooner or later begins to subside as the regimen or drugs begin to gain control.

And as reported above, relief at the start is not smooth or complete. The frequency, duration, and severity of symptoms varty greatly at the start. Be aware of that. Neither the regimen nor antiherpetic drugs work like taking an asperin for a headache. One must persist.

For those unfamiliar with these topics and treatments, scrutinze the following postings:

Thanks Nickyschick! and Thanks JohnofOhio! Like I said, I wouldn't be surprised, this early on, if it was just all coincidental. But hey, maybe not!

I have been on the JOH supplements and Valtrex 500 mg. After about 2 months, I thought I was "cured". All symptoms went away and I could eat what I wanted and drink occasionally. Now I am finding the symptoms coming back. It has been 3 months for me, so I know it can take up to 6 months. I am cutting back on sodium and alcohol hoping for relief.
    I will persist. ;D

Hi there,[/size]You don't know how much I love how you've given me my life back. I thank you for creating this JOH regimen. I've told my dr. about it, and he's ok with it...(I've educated him about it ) I have created a page on facebook titled JOHN OF OHIO REGIMEN so others can also see my success. https://www.facebook.com/johnofohioregimen/?fref=tsPlease come by post some time please...it is because of YOU and YOUR regimen that I can have a life again. I've been on it for a little over 2 years now, following it to the T - watching my sodium (1000 mgs daily) - no CATS - you know what that is, potassium supplement, and 2mg valium. I used to get vertigoheel from the UK - but my dr. preferred me to 'not' take that....however I still do from time to time. Just wanted you to know how much I appreciate you & your regimenCindie Frappollo

OP, that's great! I'm glad for your relief. If you can't get antivirals, then trying everything else is certainly an option.
