    Hi All,

My right ear is affected, but no vertigo... yet! I started a low salt paleo diet, I don't smoke or drink coffee and will begin taking the supplements suggested by John of Ohio. My question is this: can the Lysine possibly prevent my left ear from developing symptoms or do I need to ask my dr for the acyclovir? I'm already starting to feel the fullness and crackling in my right ear.

I also find that any change in altitude makes the pressure in both ears increase! Even as little as 100 feet!

This is very depressing for me. I'm a musician in a working band & I'm terrified of what may happen.

    Thanks for your insight.
    Head pounding...

The lysine in my regimen (along with the other things listed in it, here: http://www.zoominternet.net/~kcshop/JOH.pdf ) does suppress herpes virus activity in the inner ear and associated nerves, thereby suppressing Meniere's symptoms. But one must take enough of it, at the right times each day, without food (as detailed in the PDF).

For the best possible outcome, to minimize proliferation into the second good ear, and to thoroughly suppress the virus in the new-affected ear, try to get a prescription for one of the antiherpetics. Those can be taken right along with the regimen, with no problems. They are complementary, attacking the virus in different ways.

    Read the information here: http://menieres.org/talk/index.php?topic=557.0

Lastly, understand that neither of these treatment approaches bring quick, instant relief. It can take weeks, even months, for symptoms to get suppressed. Persist, no matter what at the start. (At the start, symptoms often get worse for a time, as viral activity actually increases when being attacked by the lysine and/or the antiherpetic drugs --- but that means those agents are actually working and levels of relief are likely to appear after a period.)

Keep us posted on your progress.
