Just wondering... regular people with regular tinnitus (noise induced) are forbidden to attend clubs, live music, concerts etc.. people with menieres (or endolymphatic hydrops) too?? could it make the noise worst? or hyperacusis? just wondering because ive missed a lot of concerts or shows... anyone here with experience on the subject?
When I was symptomatic, I could not attend concerts. In fact, even shower water hurt my ears. I do not currently have any symptoms, and attend a live concert about once per month.
I was still symptomatic. I went to 2 beach concerts for $25 each. One was Trace Adkins and the other was Big and Rich. I sat in line for 4 hours to get right up near the stage and I did. I had NO bad effects. Not even the next day. I was a little achy from dancing.
thats awesome! i still dont know if my problem can be treated with antivirals but im gonna give it a try another question did you wear protection? earplugs? there is a concert i really wanna go next year! its a festival i think its gonna be loud, but im not going to be front row thats for sure
I have tinnitus and Meniere's and I still go to the occasional concert, however I always bring earplugs. I'll always plug up my bad ear. I plug up my good ear depending on how loud it is.
I've been tempted to buy a pair of these https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/584645150/isolate-switch-off-your-ears
When I was having vertigo, aural fullness, brain fog and weird noises in the inner ear I would wear plugs. Since taking Valacyclovir I have been free of those symptoms for 21 months. I am in a band and I go to concerts. I don't wear ear plugs any more. I do have constant tinnitus and after a night of playing or listening the tinnitus is louder for most of the next day.
Yes my tinnitus is constant, everywhere and always changing.. i was a big big concert goer before this condition, that why i thought my tinnitus was music related. after this im gonna try going to more concerts thanks!!
I am going to a large family reunion this weekend with TONS of noisy people everywhere. I plan to plug up my left ear. It has some slight hearing issues but it has terrible static in loud environments or with loud noises. It's the only thing I can think to do to keep it from driving me batty.
I had to use the plug/plugs for a time myself. But, not anymore. WAIT.......I'm telling a lie. I sleep with ear plugs every night. Best sleep ever. Dogs, air planes, wife snoring, cats going crazy, etc. nothing disturbs.
A lot of musicians end up with permanent tinnitus. My family dr played in a youth orchestra and still had it in one ear in her fifties. I have known people in rock bands who had hyoercusus and tinnitus, distortion etc so bad they could barely function in ordinary settings. It is cumulative. By the time you realize what has happened it may be too late.
I didn't. Maybe I was so excited that my body over rode the Menieres. I don't know but I wasn't sure how I'd do or the next time but I was fine. That's not to say that everyone will have the same experience.
I use ear plugs for show, movies, loud events etc. mostly in my bad bad ear but when it's really loud I do both. I use these https://www.alpinehearingprotection.com/earplugs/flyfit/ they block out most of the noise but still allow you to still carry on a conversation if you need. They were recommended by someone in a different post a while back and they work well for me.
I try to avoid loud noises at all cost.. Last year on 4th of July my neighbor fired off a 10,000 firecracker roll in his driveway about 15 feet from me. I honestly did not think much of it as it was happening as I had not had any symptoms in a while. OH DEER LORD. The ringing in my ears and dizziness was bad for weeks. I really just try to avoid loud ANYTHING anymore. My neighbors laugh at me out using the leaf blower with big hearing muffs on but.. I really do not care. They wanna ruin their ears so be it
If I close off my ears, all I hear is the tinnitus! So--not good. I need a portable insert that plays music (of my choice) on radio. That would mask the tinnitus. Not something that goes over the head but just fits in the ear like a hearing aid--with a tiny chip or something? Maybe someone already has developed this type of thing but if not--hope they do and soon. Right now, as I'm typing, music is playing in my hear--same song, over and over--just one line of it! So, I need to turn on the TV and get it to tone down a bit!
i "hear"live music every weekend;sometimes i can sit close sometimes i can't;every week and day are different;usually crappy
