Hey all! I'm brand new to the forum but have been researching here for the past several weeks. I am in need of a little advice if anyone can spare it! I was very inspired by a few of you to start the valacyclovir and JOH regimen which I started two weeks ago. 24 hours after taking the first rounds of JOH and 3000mg of valacyclovir I had a vertigo attack that lasted only about 30 seconds, which was amazing...normally I'm out for 6-8 hours with an attack. 3 days later I had another one that lasted approx 3-4 hours. 3 days after that I had one again that lasted 8 hours...and one week after (last sunday) I had one that lasted 12 hours with residual vertigo well into the next day. The days in-between attacks were pretty fantastic...I was able to think clearly, ringing is minimal, more energy. But these attacks are very sudden now (I have very little warning time before I have to get to a safe place) and the last one was pretty scary as I was driving and had to be rescued by a friend. I know many of you said it gets worse before it gets better on the valacyclovir...I've never had this many attacks in such a short period of time and the length of time is horrendous...the last two attacks were by far the worst I've ever had. Would what I'm experiencing be relatively normal?? ??? Maybe it is more intense because of taking the meds and JOH regimen together? Additionally, I have upped the lysine to 4500mg and may up it again (I read its safe to consume up to 6g) as I am a weightlifter and just found out that lysine is synthesized by muscles post-workout. Thanks so much for taking the time to read this...its been such a blessing finding this forum and realizing there are others out there. Indra
It is common for it to get worse with AVs before it gets better, and i take that as a good sign that it's really a viral cause. Be sure to take the lysine on an empty stomach and avoid high arginine foods. They feed the virus.
getting worse is because you're killing the virus. It's a die off reaction. The dead viruses then becomes objects of inflammation until your body clears them. Drink lots of water.
Oh, and as I mentioned on my Tiding of Joy thread, MM is, IMHO, usually caused by Multiple insults, not just a virus thing and not just a fungal thing. It's looking like stealth dental infections may be a common thread, and it may take two or all three to trigger the MM.
