My dad has been full for over a week. I'm still taking 3 grms of valtrex every day. Last week a low pressure system came in and I went full. Now I am high in the smoky mountains with 26 relatives in the same big house for a week. A big family Christmas

    Good news - no vertigo

Bad news - almost completely deaf in left eAr

Best news - we are simply having a wonderful Christmas time

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!!

    Hey Santa,
My laby ear is acting up as well, first time in a long time. Just knowing I cannot get vertigo is rather comforting.

Same for me. 3 days ago my ear was roaring. I am sure I was having an episode and am so thankful that I didn't have to worry about a vertigo attack. The weather has been so up and down and my ear follows the path of the weather. Things have calmed down and so has my ear.

My ear is still full and half of my head is a roaring mess. Don't even sit on my left side and try to talk to me.

About Dr Gacek's Protocol: I have been taking 3 grms per day for about 45 days. During that period I had a couple of weeks when my ear went clear. But, the last two weeks full again.

I'm wondering if his patients that had success with his protocol have gone back to having fullness?

As far as Pine Bark I have been taking 200 mgs for 77 days and the tinnitus is just as bad as ever.

When I first started taking acyclovir it worked for awhile. ( Cleared ear ) But, only for awhile. Then I switched to valacyclovir and it worked for about two weeks.

What would happen if I double the suggested dose that Dr Gacek recommends?

My old theory - if a little is good for you then a lot should be great!

Of course this theory doesn't always work. Like the time I took too much Niacin. Hehehe

The fullness drives me nuts but I do not let it keep me from being a professional musician or Santa

It's been at least four weeks since I have had vertigo. Wheeeee!!!

Maybe the stress exacerbates the fullness. I'm not sure. I got a superficial blood clot in my lower left leg the day after Christmas I took some Valium to make myself relax and keep my leg elevated. The Valium is supposed to relieve stress and I don't really think I was stressed, but the Valium didn't help with the fullness

I went back to work yesterday singing at preschools, assisted living facilities and memory care facilities.
Sometimes I think I would be better off if I was just deaf in the left ear and not hearing the roar of fullness and the tinnitus

Rose is right on ....I am deaf in my mm ear and the sirens and whistling continue. Your brain is used to hearing noise and when you no longer have hearing the brain is kind enough to produce it for you. Roaring too. ;D

So, would a hearing aid get rid of the roar and or tinnitus?

Would a hearing aid help me hear? Or would it make the roar and tinnitus louder?

For me the hearing aid not only helped me hear (good news since that is what I was paying for!) but for whatever reason it also seemed to quiet the roaring as well as the pain for certain tones that I would feel. I thought it would make those worse but it did the opposite. Perhaps being able to hear "something" makes the brain not produce or overlook the roaring? Not sure "why" but it works for me.
