Haven't posted in here in awhile as life with Meniere's tends to keep us occupied with other things - like trying to stay upright and not puke - Hope everyone is fighting the fight and living life as well as you can..... My question is has anyone had any luck with Naturopaths and if you did see someone what did they do and what were your results? I just started seeing one two weeks ago - My ENT had no issues with it - he is really great and is of the mindset that whatever helps me stay vertigo free is great and if this works for me have at it... So far I haven't had any attacks and I have more energy and less brain fog....
I'd love to know how you do with the Naturopath route! I looked into that in Cincinnati and one of the credible ones I called wanted $2500 for a six month plan! I'd pay any amount of money for something if I think it will work, but I was hesitant to fork over that kind of $$$ on a whim. I've looked into Aryuveda which a friend practices and also deals with diet and I have an appt. next week. Willing to try anything and everything at this point. Definitely let me know how you do. Good luck!
Hello. After battling Meniere's for 8 years (Vertigo, vomiting, hearing loss etc...) I have tried just about everything imaginable out there. My triggers are stress and seasonal/dust allergies. What has been helping me for almost a year now is Homeopathy. My doctor (practicing for over 30 years) prescribed Conium 30 C (3 pellets twice daily) and Tellurium 200C (5 pellets every other day). He can't tell me why it works, it just does for me about 80% of the time. However, I have just recently noticed that over the past three years I have suffered more during May which is alder pollen season here. For 4 days now I have been taking Allerclear (Kirkland brand Costco) which is a non drowsy allergy medicine containing antihistamine Loratadine. It dries up the fluid in my ears. I LOVE how I feel! Finally no fog, no dizziness. It will be interesting to see if this is going to really help me overcome the worst months for me. I am leery about doing it indefinitely as histamines are a good thing to block disease/sickness intruders into the body. Of course there are natural antihistamines out there such as the Nettle plant. We grow them like weeds out here and I am going to start drinking Nettle tea. Hope this helps someone.
I will ask her about that.... Fortunately my insurance covers her visits so it is just a co-pay and any supplements I buy but so far she has given me the things I have tried for free- she said she didn't want to charge me for something until she knows it is going to work - she seems like she legit just wants to help people - she gave up a private practice in NYC as an MD to come to the hills of CT and this is her passion... So far I love her.... And I haven't had any averse affects yet - so I am going to keep going with it. She also told me that eventually she wants me to increase my sodium intake as she thinks 1200 mg a day is too low for my heart and balance in my body - but that she won't introduce that until I tell her i am ready.... the funny thing is that I am so used to a low sodium diet now that I don't think much will change there - except maybe more bread once in awhile -LOL - and perhaps pizza - my bf makes a really good low sodium pizza - but sometimes you just want regular old take out pizza
