the vertigo when turning of the head is most likely BPPV Feeling unbalanced after being sick could point to Labyrinthitis, which mimic MM symptoms and is caused by a virus and is the inner ear where the Dr can not see and it usually occurs after being sick. The good news about that is it usually goes away but it can take weeks.

Ask him for an antiviral and also try meclizine when feeling unbalanced.

The fact that there is some positional connection, if the Epley doesn't work; try the somersault method (you can find it online). Would also highly recommend seeing a Nucca dr (upper cervical) as that might prove to be beneficial.
