Well, in my ongoing search for help with my hearing--I tried one 'listening device' and took it back--a universal one--that would work with any hearing aid. All it did was make things louder and I need 'clearer too' of course--as we all do. Then got the one specific for my hearing aids--and though it makes things louder too and is small and easy to use--I have to keep switching back and forth from it to my hearing aids due to this problem: The microphone is directed toward what you are trying to hear (tv-phone-people) etc. Any others in the rest of the area--like someone sitting in the living room and the TV on and it focused on the TV--are 'muffled as is my own voice! So, I keep changing to my hearing aids with just a push of the button on the aid--and by the time I get it done the person has said what they wanted to say and I missed it--so have to ask--'what did you say'? Sure makes for an interrupted conversation! And--my own voice in the same situation is like it's in a well too. But--the TV is better, yet not on all stations. Still clarity is a problem on many drama type or comedy type shows. Especially if persons have an accent of any kind. So, it helps if I put it in front of another person, say at the kitchen table and I'm walking around the house--I can hear them very clearly and the TV somewhat clearer and it helps somewhat on the phone--with it on 'speaker'. But can't say it's alot of improvement--depends on who the caller is and from what type of phone they are using. Does anyone have any experience with these devices and know if you stay with it you see an improvement in certain situations or are they a 'waste of money'? Thanks ps: it's nerve wracking too--by the end of 4 days I feel so exhausted trying to figure out where to put the device, and the way it's inputting into my ear!
Well, no responses, so I'm guessing no one else is using one of these. Just to report--I have decided to keep it as it does help with TV and as a help with talking with my husband throughout our house--I put it where he is for any length of time and we can communicate much better and so I figure if it works with him in other rooms it should with anyone else, like family-friends, etc. if needed to talk from one room to another at times. It helps some in a restaurant but I find my hearing aids and the programs and volume controls help there more often.
